Unable to connect to 2022 Volvo XC90
Posted by: sc1943 - 01-04-2025, 05:57 PM - Forum: Car Connectivity - No Replies

Hi,

I am having trouble connecting to a 2022 Volvo XC90 -

Here is the log from OrBit -

OrBit v1.0.9
OrBit Disconnected
NOTE: No car network is detected, trying to connect anyways...
Requesting connect
Waiting for connection...
Found car
Connecting...
Waiting for the gateway to respond...
No cars found! Check cable, replug OBD connector, or check local firewall blocks OrBit from incoming connections
Error Reason: timeout
OrBit Disconnected

From what I have read in the other car connection issues, it seems like a firewall issue, so I entered the 2 additional rules that weren't automatically added , along with an explicit outbound rule for ..\OrBitApp\OrBitRun.exe - but I still see the same error.

I also tried disabling Windows Defender temporarily and relaunching OrBit, but I still see the same error message.

More background - my laptop has an ethernet port, so I don't have any potential driver issues with a USB Ethernet dongle. I also installed wireshark with the OBD - Ethernet cable plugged in, and can see data from the car (the VIN number), so the cable seems fine also.

Any ideas?

Thank you!

  Hill descent control
Posted by: András - 01-04-2025, 03:28 PM - Forum: Misc - Replies (4)

Hello,

is it possible to have hill descent control on 2019 V60 with AWD?
I see configuration option 053 which seems related, but doubt that is all there is to it.

I have also seen "Off road" driving mode option for the Cross Country. Is this somehow related?

  Checking thermostat functionality
Posted by: Sven’s Owner - 01-03-2025, 05:13 PM - Forum: DID - Data Reading by ID - Replies (3)

Hi all- I’m looking for some help troubleshooting the thermostat in my 2019 S60 T6. I’ve been using the Car Scanner app to monitor fluid temps for a while and have noticed my coolant isn’t quite getting up to what I consider normal temperatures. In the warm summer months with the AC on, it usually runs about 174F and the engine oil temp usually doesn’t go above that. Now that it’s cold out, it’s usually in the 150’s F on long highway driving. When it’s really cold it’ll drop below that. I’ve noticed that if I turn the heat off completely it will get up around 185F, but will not get that high with the heat on. I did some digging on the tech specs for my car and the target thermostat temp is 90C (~195F) unless it’s in Polestar mode where it has a heated function that opens the thermostat more to keep the temps cooler. My coolant never gets that high normally. My fuel efficiency hasn’t been that great this past year and I’m somewhat concerned about getting the oil hotter to evaporate water, etc..

Does anyone happen to know of any DID’s I could use to see if the thermostat is opening and closing properly? I asked the dealer to look into it at its last service but they didn’t, so I’m hoping to dig into a little more on my own. Worst case, a new thermostat isn’t very expensive and looks pretty easy to replace if it comes to it. Thanks.

  Is there a Program Manual?
Posted by: Trygve Svard - 01-02-2025, 04:01 PM - Forum: OrBit Q&A - Ask your questions here! - Replies (3)

I just got my subscription to OrBit but wonder if there is a Manual describing all the  set-up that the program offers. Something at least describing what the many major subjects mean like Subject, Service, ECU Tools, Config Wizard, Configuration and Expert Toolbox. I do not know what each page can do and would appreciate some written help.

  Orbit v scan tool
Posted by: donsito - 01-02-2025, 11:46 AM - Forum: OrBit Q&A - Ask your questions here! - No Replies

Happy new year everybody. Hope you all had a blessed festive period.

As dealer prices are reaching astronomical levels, I want to start doing basic maintenance on my 2017 xc90 myself.

However, I am undecided on which tool to get. Orbit or a scan tool such us https://www.diagnostic-world.com/pages/m...275565.cfm. Mods please delete if links to other tools are not allowed.

I guess my question is, what can I do with Orbit that I cannot do with the above scan tool and viceversa?

At the moment I do need to change rear pads, oil service, gearbox oil change and diagnose an engine warning light.

Any replies are greatly appreciated.

Question Refund policy?
Posted by: lateapxr - 12-31-2024, 04:06 AM - Forum: OrBit Q&A - Ask your questions here! - Replies (4)

First off, this software looks fantastic and I'm excited to try and get it up and running. As a user of VCDS on past VWs, and a developer myself, this is much nicer and I appreciate the work the devs have put in place to get where it is today.

However, because I'm running a slightly out of the box setup (M2 Macbook Air with Win10 virtualized/emulated via UTM with a VOE/DoIP cable passed through as a bridged network adapter), I'm wondering if there's a refund policy in place in case I can't actually get OrBit connecting to the car after spending $225 for my Sensus-based car?

Everything looks like it should work right now but I can't be certain until paying for a subscription and CEM PIN because it's not until that point that you can try to make a connection to the car.

And I guess as a feature request, it'd actually be really awesome to be able to test connectivity and that your setup will work before purchase for this reason.

  Retrofitting camera

Hi, maybe it's a dum question but has anyone tried to install an aftermarket reverse camera without installing some decoder or something? Much more variety of aftermarket cameras and the possibility to put wireless cameras, not to dismantle half of car for a camera cable...

  Newest Volvo/Polestar vehicles compatibility
Posted by: karen.exe - 12-28-2024, 12:18 PM - Forum: OrBit Q&A - Ask your questions here! - Replies (3)

Hello,

Does anyone tried OrBit with some of newer vehicles?

Like Volvo EX30, EX90, EM90, Polestar 3 and 4

I believe software core for these is China. Because most of them are basically Zeekrs in another design. And they are being made on the same factories.

So wondering if they are still compatible with VIDA / OrBit
Since from what I heard they are not, due to a newer platfrom. Still interested which software dealers are using insted of VIDA

Any thoughts?

Question about Easy Ingress/Egress on AAOS
Posted by: zdolnycool - 12-27-2024, 02:16 PM - Forum: OrBit Q&A - Ask your questions here! - No Replies

I would like to enable the option of easy entry/exit from the car. I tried to enable the retracting and down and retracting options in the 245- Easy Ingress Egress position and neither worked. I saw in another post that blocking the profile helped, but I think this option is only in Sensus because I don't see anything like that anywhere in my AAOS. No additional option related to this functionality appears in the system. Am I doing something wrong or does it not work on AAOS?
