Plugged in No Power after reverting to OEM
Posted by: lbleung@gmail.com - 08-29-2024, 06:40 PM - Forum: OrBit Q&A - Ask your questions here! - Replies (2)

2022 Polestar 2 Plus and Performance
Using Orbit since December 2023, activated pilot assist/ACC and pixel headlights with no issue. Have done a couple of OTAs since then no problem (but realized after one OTA that it you don't revert to OEM first the update might bork the propulsion system and regenerative braking, presumably because of the mismatch in ACC configuration).

Missed the last OTA (from 2.14 -> 3) because when I got the cloud notification I reverted to OEM on Orbit before applying the update and the notification went away. I finally made an appointment to get into the Volvo dealership to do the update in the shop. The software flash went fine but then when I went to plug in the car afterward (it wasn't plugged in during the software flashing) the car wouldn't charge. The light on the charging cable was still flashing white, so it didn't seem to be a cable fault. I toggled the charging schedule off and back on, and also tried using the 110V pigtail connector in a normal outlet. Same thing-- the car showed the yellow light and was stuck on "initializing charging" and the app showed "plugged in no power". The car did charge at a DCFC station at 50kw. Based on my preliminary experiments it seemed like it might be either a faulty charging cable or an onboard charger issue, because charging didn't work with multiple power outlets.

I brought it to the Volvo dealer for the scheduled service appointment for the software update and told them about the charging issue. Gave them my charging cable as well. When I checked the app last night (while the car was still at the dealership) the software had been updated and the car plugged in and fully charged--the app now also has the capability of setting the charge limit.

They told me today that they checked everything and there was no issue with the OBC or the cable. So I'm not sure what happened. Did flashing the software back to OEM have anything to do with the car's inability to charge, and did the new software update restore it? More importantly, can I reflash the previous mods (pixel and ACC/PA) without fear that this might happen again? Could the changes in the app charging protocol have had something to do with the breaking or restoration of the charging functions? Has this happened to anyone else?

TL; DR: using Orbit to revert to OEM may have borked my car's charger, and updating to the latest Polestar software may have restored it. Possible or just a coincidence?

Which one first? ECU remap than Orbit “polestar engineered” turning on OR vicaversa?
Posted by: Nyolc - 08-29-2024, 01:50 PM - Forum: OrBit Q&A - Ask your questions here! - Replies (3)

Hi!

I would like to remap my xc90 and get the better transmission from Orbit Polestar Engineered.
Which one should I start with?
I guess the ECU remapping goes first.

Thx

XC90 II Tail Lights Reprogramming to EU
Posted by: mortos - 08-29-2024, 01:40 PM - Forum: Lights - Replies (2)

Hello,
I've noticed that some companies offer to reprogram US/Canada tail lights so that they blink in amber. Does anyone know how they achieve this? Are they physically replacing the LEDs, or is it just a software modification with OrBIT?

Question [Question] Volvo parts encyclopedia
Posted by: Megailo - 08-29-2024, 07:10 AM - Forum: Service Functions - Replies (2)

Hello, do you know of a site or software that allows you to find the part numbers for your vehicle ?

A bit like Etka at VAG. I'm looking for the Yurbo hoses that are pierced on the D4 190hp diesel engine, I would like to do them as a precaution because when changing the oil I noticed that it was greasy and when accelerating I hear a little whistling that wasn't there before, it may be due to a start ?

Thanks you.

  Key Programming on T8 XC90
Posted by: BobM - 08-28-2024, 04:12 AM - Forum: Retrofitting - Replies (2)

FYI for you folks with T8s - there's a known issue with key programming where the SRS system causes radio interference that makes it impossible to program new keys. I banged my head against the wall for quite some time being unable to program keys until some kind soul on Swedespeed pointed me in the direction of the following TJ:

Once the fuses in question were removed, the keys programmed easily. I hope this helps someone struggling with this like I did.

  Door Mirror Tilt On Reverse
Posted by: sootyvandriver - 08-27-2024, 11:15 AM - Forum: OrBit Q&A - Ask your questions here! - Replies (1)

Hi, I was wondering if its possible to configure the door mirror tilt on reverse function.
As I understand it this feature was factory enabled where memory seats are fitted.
I don't have memory seats.
Thanks.

  De-japanify my Volvo
Posted by: sdevansNZ - 08-27-2024, 12:57 AM - Forum: OrBit Q&A - Ask your questions here! - Replies (6)

I imagine this might be a bit of a niche case, but here goes.

New Zealand takes a lot of second-hand Japanese imports, they're cheap(ish), well maintained for the most part, and allow access to models not available domestically.

I have a 2018 V90 Cross Country that is fairly well loaded with options - which is nice - but some of the features are locked to Japanese settings.

I was successfully able to change language settings with Orbit more than was possible from the menu options.
Also I was able to change the radio frequency range over to the right settings for New Zealand, and disable the TV tuner from appearing in the infotainment system (it doesn't work outside of Japan anyway)

I have been unable to turn off the Electronic Toll Card hardware. I thought option 205: DSRC unit would control this, but setting it to 01 Without, or 03 DSRC unit without ETC card reader did nothing. Every engine start plays a message familiar to owners of Japanese cars in NZ; "No ETC card is inserted".

I was also unable to get the wireless connection working - tried all combinations of 2.4ghz and 5ghz, but no success. Using another ODB software suggested that perhaps the whole wireless unit was dead, but I'm not sure. Oddly I was also unable to disable the AM radio.

The biggest issue remaining for me is getting the navigation system working in NZ, thinking that a GPS is a GPS is a GPS. However I can't see any obvious settings to change that region. I can turn it on and off via option 190, or 223, but without the wireless working even the internet map doesn't work. Reading many forums would suggest is that the GPS hardware for Japanese models is unique, but I don't know much beyond that.

Additionally when using Apple Carplay for navigation - which is fine, though I'd love to get the directions in the driver display - my GPS positioning is slightly off, which I am blaming on the Japan GPS hardware, and this messes up routing. Reading forums on Volvo GPS issues has troubleshooting tips that I have tried - including setting the clock via GPS (clock now set to Japan time) and resetting the IHU via battery disconnect. Neither has fixed this.

Summarising, will I need to buy replacement hardware to have working 'Sensus' Navigation in NZ, and is that hardware something Orbit can help configure?
My last resort now is one of those Android AI boxes that provide android and wireless carplay as they have integrated GPS in them.

Also, I'll be happy to provide ROW settings for some of the queries on park assist, lighting, cruise control if any one is interested.

  Time or mileage of DTC
Posted by: jdhx - 08-25-2024, 07:33 PM - Forum: OrBit Q&A - Ask your questions here! - Replies (1)

Is it possible for Orbit to show the the time or mileage that a DTC occurred?  Perhaps that is available already but where is it?

Thanks

  Electric seats
Posted by: Apansson - 08-25-2024, 10:58 AM - Forum: Retrofitting - Replies (9)

Looking to replace textile seats for some leather ones. Today the seats are heated and manual. It’s quite hard to find manual leather seats. Are electric seats plug n play?  Is it any problem to program these to the car at the dealer? Car is an XC40.
