Can’t open rear door – need latch guidance
Posted by: cristiavram_a - 06-18-2025, 10:34 AM - Forum: Misc - Replies (1)

Hi everyone,
I’ve got a bit of a situation on my MY2018 XC90
While doing a maintenance scanning with Orbit, a DTC error showing short to ground for my rear left door handle. Removed the rear right outer door handle to investigate a weak courtesy LED but while the handle was removed, I accidentally closed the door… and now it’s stuck shut. It won’t open from inside or outside.

I’ve removed the inner door panel as much as I could (from the inside of the car), and I can access the latch mechanism through a hole near the cable entry. I’ve inserted an inspection camera and a rod, but I’m not sure where exactly to push, pull, or press in order to release the latch and open the door.

I’m attaching two clear pictures of the latch (same model as mine). Can anyone help by marking or explaining which part of the mechanism I need to manipulate manually to unlock the door?

Any advice or visual guidance would be massively appreciated ?

Question Retrofit XC40 2020 R-Design (Hybrid) Sensus to AAOS System
Posted by: leandro.vitali - 06-17-2025, 11:44 AM - Forum: Retrofitting - Replies (1)

Hi everyone,

I own a 2020 Volvo XC40 R-Design Hybrid (PHEV) equipped with the Sensus infotainment system and the older digital instrument cluster. I've been wondering if it's possible to retrofit the newer Android Automotive OS (AAOS) system—both the center infotainment screen and the fully digital driver's display—like those found in the 2022+ models (Recharge).
Has anyone here attempted this kind of upgrade?
Is there any known compatibility between the Sensus hardware and the newer AAOS modules (screens, software, wiring, etc.)?
Would it require major ECU or wiring changes, or is there a plug-and-play solution available somewhere?

I’d really appreciate any insights, experiences, or guidance from someone who’s tried this or looked into it. Even partial upgrades or custom retrofit projects would be helpful to hear about!

Thanks in advance!  Big Grin

  Thank you Orbit EBS issue
Posted by: JKBURRELL67@GMAIL.COM - 06-16-2025, 10:28 PM - Forum: Service Functions - No Replies

Thank you guys.  You are awesome.   Brake system Fixed

My 2016 XC90 decided it was going to take out my EB actuators after a sudden stop.

Tried resetting the DCT and the left actuator froze on.
Tried Service mode to release to no avail.
DCT report showed both actuators failed.

After several clears and review of the log files was sure it was just the RH Motor.
Could not turn the service mode off through Orbit at this time.
With help from Ian, backed out the actuators manually, unplugged,  drove to the dealer with dash flashing and binging.

Short story long…. New actuator installed, service mode turned off, cleared DCT and we are good as new.

Thank you.

how to register a new module PSMD
Posted by: tomichik - 06-15-2025, 11:10 PM - Forum: Retrofitting - Replies (1)

Hello! I have a problem! I installed an additional massage in my seats, connected everything, but without changing the module it didn't work! I bought a module with a massage function, changed it and now it's the other way around - the massage works, but the seats don't move! I tried all the options for turning the seat functions on and off, but everything is the same - there is massage, no movement! The PSMD module sees it through Orbit, I can even move the passenger seat through the "Gentleman" function, but my driver's seat doesn't move! If I substitute the old module, everything works, but the massage doesn't work! I understand that somewhere with some command this module needs to be registered in the central module of the car! Who knows the necessary command and where to write it?

  Preserve DTCs?
Posted by: prettymama - 06-13-2025, 12:17 PM - Forum: Misc - Replies (2)

Is there any way to preserve DTCs during flashing? Why I ask: I had a low coolant warning in my MY24 V60CC. The car is one year old, so I topped up with some distilled water and called the service center to make an appointment. Before I went there, I reverted back to the OEM (just in case). One of the postprocess steps is to reset all the DTCs, and that proved somewhat problematic in my case. In fact, the service center found a leak in the coolant pump that needed to be replaced. Since my car is still under warranty, they would do this at no cost to me. However, to do this they need that DTC warning that was removed during the reflash. Fortunately, the servicemen didn't make a big deal about it, and we finally settled on a scenario where they would suck out some coolant to force the car to alert again that it was low, and then we could proceed with the warranty pump replacement.

Now my question. Am I now able to save and restore the DTCs? Or can I request such a feature in OrBit? I.e., a new "Preserve DTCs during flash" option that would look up all DTCs prior to flash, save them, perform a flash, reset all DTCs, and then restore/generate the saved ones?

I don't know if the question already has been asked, but will there be a Chromebook version or is there a possibility to install OrBit on a Chromebook?
Thx!

  2018 XC40
Posted by: juzzmee - 06-10-2025, 03:27 AM - Forum: Retrofitting - Replies (10)

Hi,
Gotten a 2018 XC40 T4 Momentum (with standard Lane Keep Assist, Standard Cruise Control). Enjoying the car but miss features like BLIS, 360 camera and front fog light (for the cornering blinker).
I've managed to hold of a supplier able to provide all necessary parts/wirings and an installer confident of setting up all hardware.
Thing is, supplier is only able to remote program/activate all these after installation which i'm pretty unsure if totally possible.
Can i check if after installation of the above, will i be able to use OrBit to activate and get them running how they should?
Is someone able to advise what, which settings I should use?
Lastly, anything else that I can enable with OrBit which doesn't require hardware?
Really appreciate any kind response, thanks.

Hello there!
I`m just curious, is there any progress in "hacking" Sensus System?
I know there were attempts to modify the System, but no progress was ever recorded :/

Cheers!
