What can I do with config changes on my car? |

**Updated - March 2025** - This is the first version, I will add some notes later to help guide you where to look to make the changes - Andrew
What can be changed on my car?
It is naturally a frequent question for new users. It is not so easy to answer on an individual basis. What is possible, what applies to the specific car, market specific settings etc. and what YOU care about, all these things vary.
What we can do, is give you some ideas from the well known and often discussed changes to the cars. So that is below. I will note where some settings only apply to some cars and offer some guidance if you are starting here to try some of the changes. This is NOT a guide on each specific configuration or hardware installation. Some are simple changes you can do on any car, some are more complex to know where they apply. You may find more information on a specific configuration elsewhere in the forums. This is not a comprehensive list! There are more tweaks possible, surely I have forgotten some things or I don't know about. There me some new interesting things to find still...OrBit is a tool of discovery, for those that like to play and find new things.
Note: "Sensus" or "AAOS" refers to the generation of cars, by the infotainment system. If you are not sure what type of car you have, see the buying guide, at the bottom is a breakdown of the models.
Changes you can make with no equipment changes needed in the car:
- Enable Pilot Assist/Adaptive Cruise Control (all cars)
- Other driving aids enable/disable (some cars support, some don't for each feature, you will have to try)
Curve Speed Assist
Automatic Speed Limiter
Speed Limit Warning
Enable/Disable Intelligent Speed Assist (ISA) (late 2024+ EU cars)- Modify/remove the speed limiter (all cars)
- Enable Polestar Optimization (all cars) - this one is complicated: no it does not install the Optimization software! It is only a config change. But there is some effect on some cars. You can just try it.
- Exterior lights operation changes (all cars, depends on factory equipment)
Enable Adaptive Beam (AHB) for Pixel and LED headlights on North American (NA) market cars where it is disabled
Enable Bending Lights in high beam for EU/RoW(Rest of world) type LED headlights
Remove foglight restrictions - allow turn on without headlights, together with high beam
Exterior lighting logic change - enable DRL always on, allow DRL off.- Modify remote start settings (all cars) - enable/disable running lights with remote start. (No, setting "ERS by key" does not work!)
- Enable Start/Stop setting memory on cars not equipped (Sensus, ICE only)
- Disable Start/Stop on MHEV Mild-hybrid cars (all cars with Aisin 8-speed automatic)
- Enable "Start in Pure" mode on AAOS cars not equipped
- Enable/Disable Restricted or Care Key (all cars) features (orange/red key fobs)
- Enable Audible locking feedback on non-US cars not originally enabled
- Adjust seat heating calibration (warmer/cooler) (all cars)
- Enable "Easy entry and exit" driver's seat (Sensus only)
- Video playback allowed at all speed (Sensus only)
- Change "Theme" in driver's display - start-up logo (Sensus only)
- Enable Navigation (Sensus only)
- Enable CarPlay/Android Auto (Sensus only)
- Disable SCL (Steering Column Lock) on cars equipped with SCL
- Adjust region settings (all cars) - change language, units displays, radio frequencies, etc. useful for imported cars
- Adjust tire size and circumference (all cars) to correct steering stops and speedometer accuracy for wheel/tire changes
- Adjust maintenance interval - Change from the factory set distance/time for the service reminder
- Adjust the "Turbo Configuration" - You are on your own for this one…but some folks report positive results
- Enable "PIP" split screen parking camera views on AAOS cars it is supported but not enabled with the latest OTA updates due to local market regulations.
Popular Equipment changes - these are changes to enable equipment you install to work:
Note: "equipment changes" means YOU are responsible to install equipment,
verify/add required wiring, etc. OrBit can handle the configuration part to make the equipment work.
- Install and load Trailer Module (TRM) for tow bar wiring integration
- Add TPMS sensors and switch to direct sensor TPMS system (Sensus only)
- Add interior light dimming thumbwheel rheostat (2023+ cars removed this feature)
- Install ignition switch with drive mode roller (Sensus Only)
- Add "high" level interior lighting
- Add paddle shifters (through 2022 model years)
- Add heated steering wheel
- Add fog lights to the car not equipped
- Audio system swap, High perf to H/K to B&W, add subwoofer etc.
- Add interior alarm motion sensor (IMS), tilt-sensor siren (BBS)
- Driver's display upgrade 8" to 12.3" unit (Sensus car)
- Headlight swaps: US<>EU/RoW type headights, non-bending to bending type
- Seat swaps: Add ventilated/heated/massage type seats to car not originally equipped
- ...There is no end to equipment swaps, if it is something Volvo/Polestar installed on the cars, you can enable the equipment configuration with OrBit, given you have physical equipment and wiring correctly installed in the car. Some swaps are easy, some swaps are very difficult. Do your research.

AUX In retrofit Sensus |

Hi folks!
As many of you know, Volvo removed the AUX-in port at some point. However, it can still be activated, which I successfully did.
Unfortunately, the wiring is missing. Has anyone already tried retrofitting an AUX input? Which wires need to be added? I suppose they should be connected directly to the IHU.
Maybe someone with VIDA access could check the wiring diagram?

V60 wasn't happy with a config. |

I successfully activated ACC and Active Lighting on my V60 and decided to try Slam Lock, Video, EOE, and Polestar configs (089,207,358,374). After configuring those my car wouldn't start. I did the recommended, "close and lock the doors and have a coffee" but the wait didn't help.
The car was totally normal otherwise, it would lock and unlock, all the screens were active, just nothing when I pressed the brake and turned the start knob. Even doing it out of sync where it asks you to press the brake to start didn't work.
Resetting to OEM and re-enabling the original mods brought the car back to life. Any idea which of the 4 codes I tried would stop the car from starting?

S60 HK amp in XC90 Base HP? |

So the background to this is, I have a 2019 S60 that I upgraded the HK stereo to B&W with Orbit. So now I have a full S60 HK system and amp sitting around unused. My 2020 XC90 has the base HP stereo, and while I did add a B&W sub & external amp to it, the itch to upgrade is building... ![[Image: biggrin.png]](https://forums.spaycetech.com/images/icons/biggrin.png)
In looking at the S60 HK wiring diagram, it seems to be pretty similar to the XC90 base HP system, with as far as I can tell the only major differences being the addition of the center speaker, and the S60 has tweeters in the rear row (2nd row of XC90). The front doors are wired the same, and the rear doors are close. The sub is a non-issue as I have one already with an external amp driving it.
S60:
Front - woofer, mid + tweeter wired together in parallel
Rear - woofer + tweeter wired in series, midrange
XC90:
Front - woofer, mid + tweeter wired together in parallel (same as S60)
Rear - woofer + midrange wired in series (no tweeter)
My thought is if I adjust the rear door wiring to connect the woofer and tweeter together, and then run new wires to the midrange, I should be mimicking the system in the S60 accurately. I'll need to find a 22 pin harness to work with, which I think this one will work, and I'd like to find a 16 pin harness extension as well so I don't have to cut any factory wiring. I know I'll be missing the roof speakers in the 3rd row, but I really don't want to drop and cut into the headliner just to add extra speakers back there, and if I did feel crazy I could put the midrange back there from the rear speakers.
Any reason why this wouldn't work? Is the software really optimized for each cabin format (i.e. S60 vs XC90)? Is there anything I'm not considering?
Thanks!
I should add, I'd like to keep the S60 HK AUD stock as I may need to swap it back into the S60 whenever I go into the dealer for service . I saw some threads about updating it to the 90 series AUD to add the additional rear channels, but in this instance I don't want to do that.

I have an xc40 MY18 that does not have BLIS (nor a 360 camera, but it does have pilot assist), I am trying to find (without success) the list of parts that I need to install to have the BLIS working in addition to the mirrors with BLIS led.

Can my CEM pin be detected or do I need to pay for the PIN extraction service? |

Hello,
I'm looking to add a key to my 2018 XC60 T8.
I've read here, that someone else with the same vehicle was able to use Orbit to detect the CEM pin and use that to add a key without any issues.
But that post was from several years ago. (Before the PIN decoding services were a thing)
Not sure what has changed.
Do I need to now pay for the PIN extraction/ decoding service? Or will the base Orbit software be able to detect my CEM Pin?
If I go with the base now to try, can I add on the CEM PIN service later if it isn't working?
Also, When do I need my VGM PIN? What's that do for me?
