  Global Navigation Satellite System
Posted by: pingwagen - 04-01-2023, 10:56 AM - Forum: Misc - Replies (29)

Hi all!
I also recently purchased Orbit. And I already tried to work with him on my Volvo 60 Cross Country 2021 model year.
I have already enabled using Orbit ASL and it works great.
My car did not have a navigation system installed. And I wanted to include it too.
The default settings were:
190 GLOBAL NAVIGATION SAT SYSTEM 02 With Global Navigation Satellite System - I was surprised because the navigation was not activated.
223 NAVIGATION SYSTEM AND INTERNET MAP 01 Without Connected Navigation enabled, without Internet map support - here I put 04 (tried other values)
453 GLOBAL NAVIGATION SATELLITE SYSTEM - here the value was 00 unknown. I have tried values from 01 to 04.
As a result, it was not possible to turn on navigation. At first I thought that the maps were not loaded. I downloaded the necessary package from the Volvo website - but they are not loaded into the car.
Then I discovered another interesting point. If you enable automatic time correction by GPS, then the time becomes incorrect by plus six hours!
I tried to return to OEM, but the situation did not change.
Has anyone else come across such features? Share your experience?

  Launch Control (not OrBit related)
Posted by: Bi.boosted - 03-31-2023, 03:23 AM - Forum: Engine / Transmission - Replies (4)

Well I don't think there's anything OrBit can do to reveal it. Anyway I just read a few articles about the P3 Polestar S60 with the T43 engine. And while trying to figure out if there are similarities in the tunes (because why would polestar go out of their way to reengineer a whole setup when everything is there.)

I found that "sport mode" in that tune brought on the raised rpm idle etc. When the Polestar tune is purchased, the power output of the T27 (SPA T6) is shocking close to the 367 HP of the T43 (330hp) And the torque is not far off the T43's 345lbsft (325lbsft)

So that got me thinking... Just how close to the official Polestar is the "optimized" tune? And just what's different between the camshafts. Oh shit... I digress..

Anyway... The raised RPM. And other similarities got me thinking... After reading something in an article that says the old polestar actually has launch control but you don't have to do anything to do it. Just two foot launch it I checked it...

Normally I just launch around 2500... I just checked now after remembering how dynamic the torque converter lock up is, and just flatfooted it.  It went up to 2500 then stayed for a half second then went up to 3000rpm  and the car then started making stuttering noises like launch control. I just recorded it on the JB4 and I'm seeing shifting in timing and the throttle plate moving around and maintaining boost. So, looks like if you flat foot it you do infact activate a launch mode when I'm polestar mode.

Terrible echo during bluetooth phone calls
Posted by: Sodertalje - 03-27-2023, 06:29 AM - Forum: Audio / Visual - No Replies

Since a few weeks I have a terrible echo when making a phone call on bluetooth. It also happens when connected by cable. I know there is some form of noise cancelling in the car and can this have something to do with the echo during phone calls?

  Other Auxiliary Outputs???
Posted by: Bi.boosted - 03-26-2023, 07:40 PM - Forum: Misc - Replies (4)

I was looking at The Other Forum and noticed something about auxiliary lights. So, in another group, someone showed me how to hook up some auxiliary lights to the garage door opener. My mind got to running about how i could use that for an Exhaust Cutout. So I completely conceptualized and shopped for the products for my Vacuum activated exhaust cutout, BUT... now I'm wondering if there are other outputs from the CEM that could be used to activate relays that I would need to do this and it be just in the CEM... swipe Right, Tap Sport Mode and (Auxiliary Lights/Something else).

is there anything else in the configs that allows something like this?

Radio Volume based on speed or cabin noise
Posted by: raidewr600 - 03-25-2023, 12:36 PM - Forum: Audio / Visual - Replies (5)

As the the car goes faster or there is more cabin noise, the radios volume will go up. I think it's annoying. Is there a setting to disable this that orbit can change? I don't see anything in the cars sound settings. This is the BW system.

  OrBit Beta v0.4.0 release notes
Posted by: Power6 - 03-23-2023, 10:40 PM - Forum: Releases - Replies (5)

A major update of OrBit is out, v.0.4.0. As always, latest version can be downloaded here: https://spaycetech.azurewebsites.net/orb...e/download

CMA models with "no BCM" like XC40 non-hybrid are supported now (these were already functional but bugs have been found and fixed for these models)

New features:

Car Status updated on "Shortcuts" tab - New status display for connected car with existing and new:
EPB Status - parking brake service status, click to enable service mode (*new* override to disable service mode, if the mode is incorrectly reported)
Config Status - "OK" or "Config Error" based on any invalid config reported from the CEM
Operation Mode - Shows current operation mode of car, click to change
Last Service - Days since last service (since maintenance reminder was reset)

Service functions moved to new "Service" tab - ABS Config Clear moved and new functions added:
Maintenance Reset - Reset the maintenance interval when performing your own service or serviced by a shop without VIDA
Oil Level reset - Reset the oil level adaptations in the ECM, when performing your own oil changes, to prevent false warnings for oil level after replacement.
Reset Battery History - See the days in service for the battery, and reset it when replacing 12V batteries.
Easy Ingress/Egress seat offsets edit - allows changing the distance the driver's seat slides back and/or down when the car is configured with "easy ingress/egress"
TPMS Sensor ID edit - See and edit the TPMS sensor IDs used when the car is configured with the sensor type TPMS (Sensor TPMS can be configured on all Sensus based SPA)
Air Suspension Calibration - This feature is experimental for those with Air Susp to test setting the car up to measure wheel heights. Once some data is collected the ability to input the heights and calibrate, as well as "lower" or "raise" the normal height of the car, will be added to OrBit.
SRS History Clear - Run the history clear after air bag deployment on a crashed car (works only on some models/years/markets)

(Greyed out button) Brake Bleed activation for hybrid "brake by wire" system, coming soon!

Other new features:

Send Cmd to ECU - On ECU Tools tab, you can send raw commands to an ECU and receive a report with the reply. Changing session and using Security Access is supported. This is useful for advanced users familiar with UDS diagnostics, but also useful for support of OrBit, to troubleshoot issues, or work with users to collect data for new features.

Expanded advanced settings for OrBit - On "Experts Toolbox" tab, new features have been added for experience users or as directed by OrBit support for troubleshooting. Post programming process can be skipped when flashing, VGM Unlocks can be skipped, and a button can be used to "Send Log now" to force OrBit uploading the latest log to the OrBit server when working with support.

SW version settings added to config - *Advanced User Only* Checkbox on "Experts Toolbox" tab enables items 380, 381, and 383 in Configurator. These items allow setting the SW version in config. On Android cars this can control the version reported in the car, to allow running earlier version of the system without getting "update" prompts. Useful for those who have Google Services installed "unofficially", who want to avoid getting prompted for, or running, a system update.

Fixes and Improvements:
New message prompt that allows creating a car profile right away when connecting a new car

Bug fix: "Software version" not reported correctly in Android system if updated OTA while using OrBit config. When this happens it can cause Android system version to be reported incorrectly. OrBit now flashes config that always passes through the current version from variant codes
Bug fix: Some CMA chassis models do not have a BCM module and brake system commands fail. OrBit now recognizes to use the VDDM for brake commands on these models and skips ABS Clear config (not supported or required on these models)
Bug Fix: DID read errors for some DIDs. When Security Access is required but session required from info database is default. OrBit now uses extended session if supported for DIDs that require security access.

Known Issues:
CMA models without BCM (i.e. non hybrid XC40) are now supported, except for EPB service status does not report correctly (always shows as "OFF"). Service mode can still be controlled for brake pad replacement, when disabling (back to normal mode) use the "OVERRIDE" to turn service mode to OFF.

Pre-2020 T8 will fail to flash if HV Battery contactors are not in "open" state. Discovering the contactor control process for these models is still in process. Flashing is safe, OrBit just lacks the convenience to control the state when required on these models.

  Volvo developer API
Posted by: diko.parvanov - 03-22-2023, 08:12 PM - Forum: Car Connectivity - Replies (2)

This should qulify as connectivity to the car, just trough the Volvo developer API Smile

Has anyone tired that? I registered on https://developer.volvocars.com/ and got my vcc-api-key and token, but trying to read anything results in either 404s or wrong data. E.g. I am trying to get battery percentage charged and I get 0.0 or trying to show vehicle information also not found..

It is interesting

  About "ABS Clear Config"
Posted by: Power6 - 03-21-2023, 01:29 PM - Forum: OrBit How-To Guides - Replies (1)

Some information on the "ABS Clear Config" function and what it means when changing configuration with OrBit.

Technically the ABS Clear Config is "Clear ABS System variant coding" in Volvo language. It is a process that is run on the brake control module (BCM or BCM2), it clears the configuration of the ABS system itself. This causes the ABS system to "reconfigure" itself, which is useful for changing configuration like we do with OrBit, this makes the ABS/ESC system "take" the new configuration change you have made. It's a necessary step for some configuration changes, like enable/disable Pilot Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control (PA/ACC). Until the ABS Clear Config is run, the brake system will not "take" the new configuration from the car.

The config items that require the ABS Clear Config is any setting that relates to the ESC and ABS system: Cruise Control, TPMS, Collision Safety systems, anything to do with brakes, wheels and tires.

OrBit knows a list of items that need ABS Clear Config, and it will run that automatically in post-programming if you change those items. For most cases that is all you need to know! You change config, OrBit writes it and the ABS Clear is run and everything works. Also when you run the "Restore OEM" process, the ABS Clear will be run in post-programming automatically, as we don't know what you could have changed that we revert when restoring the OEM configuration, so OrBit runs it in post-programming in that process as well.

Things can happen though, the ABS Clear Config process failed in post-programming, or you see some problems with the car after config change. Here is what to do in those cases to troubleshoot:

If Write config is successful, but screen log in OrBit shows "ABS Clear config failed":

  • Run it manually, via the "ABS Clear Config" button in OrBit

If Write config is successful but the car now has many messages in the driver display (DIM) with new config:
  • If you have many messages in the DIM related to the ESC/ABS such as "ESC System disabled", "Parking Brake Unavailable", "Park Assist Temporarily Unavailable" you may have a configuration that needs to have the ABS Clear Config run
  • Run the ABS Clear Config manually, clear codes, and check the car again
  • Disconnect OrBit, turn the car off, then start the car up as normal to confirm if the messages go away
  • If the messages do not go away, even after you have run "ABS Clear Config" successfully, you may have changed a configuration item that is not compatible with the car. (Example, setting the PA/ACC system level "too high" to a level the car does not support)
  • If you are not able to resolve the issue by running ABS Clear Config, you can try correcting your config settings changes you made, and write new config with OrBit to try to figure out the incompatible setting and find what works for your car.
  • You can always run the "Restore OEM" process to change the config back to original, which should also run the ABS Clear Config for you, to restore the systems to original working status.

Post-Orbit - Car Connectivity (Avoiding the wrath of Sweden)
Posted by: ToeJam85 - 03-21-2023, 01:12 PM - Forum: Misc - Replies (4)

Hey all!

I just wanted to start a thread to check my understanding before I get blocked by Sweden by accident.

Am I right in my understanding that I can leave my in car sim enabled and use the connected car features like Spotify etc without the risk of incurring the wrath of our Swedish overlords?

Or should I leave all this stuff disabled? As much as I’d like to start using the native in car apps.
