Hi

Is there a way that OrBit can show what software versions the various ECU's are running?

Thanks

Tyre size and circumference to adjust speed
Posted by: r1sm - 09-11-2024, 01:21 PM - Forum: Misc - Replies (1)

Hello.

This is a public service announcement to help others.
My goal was to adjust the display speed to Waze GPS, so that I wouldn't always have to do the mental arithmetic to drive +3 km/h over correct speed (smooth traffic flow).

1. Tyre size
Changed it successfully to 235/50R19

1. Circumference
Calculated would have been 2253 mm, but that was far off. Read below what SPAyceTech shared on the subject. In short, Volvo does it's own thing here.
After much trial and error up and down with values I landed on 2120 mm. Seems to be a good fit.

The following information on the subject is from SPAyceTech.

The tire size and circumference are separate items in config, but Volvo uses them together, within the limited options offered in VIDA (only factory option tires and sizes are covered).
When you run a "tire size" software in VIDA, it sets both the tires size and circumference values.
Tire size is used for steering stops. This allows the fitting of larger wheels/tires and resulting adjustment of the maximum steering angle so the tires do not rub on the wheel liners, suspension parts etc.

I do think the circumference config is what is used to correct for distance and speed calculations throughout the car, like the speed display on the dash, odometer distance etc.
There is no indication of the proper measurement of circumference. We don't know what Volvo is measuring and using as a value there.
The values Volvo uses for a tire circumference don't usually match an online calculator. An online calculator is only a very generic rough guide of approximate dimensions of an actual tire.

Hope it helps someone else as well.
Cheers,
R

I have my own CEM PIN but it cannot be used on ORBIT
Posted by: wukong - 09-11-2024, 10:54 AM - Forum: OrBit Q&A - Ask your questions here! - Replies (1)

  Polestar 2 power tuning/change
Posted by: Sasquatch - 09-10-2024, 01:54 PM - Forum: Engine / Transmission - Replies (3)

I'm buying Polestar 2, settled on long range single motor. But I wonder what can be done using orbit.

Main options I'm interested in:
Power increase
ACC enable on plus model

I think ACC  is software enable only
Power change, I can't find any info, so probably not

  Polestar Digital Key issues
Posted by: jeffreyk - 09-09-2024, 04:22 AM - Forum: Retrofitting - No Replies

Hi:

Just got a new-to-me 2021 Polestar 2.  I only got 2 of the three keys when I got the car.  I used Orbit to delete 3 keys and re-program the 2 keys that I actually had with the car.  Those work great.

I now want to program the digital key pair with my Iphone. (14 Pro).

I download the app and it pairs.

However it says "Installing digital key, may take up to 2 min" on my phone with the little radar animation but then is stuck there forever.  I wait like 5-7 min 4 times with no luck.

The app works.  I can, via the app unlock the doors and adjust settings.

I cannot use it to unlock the doors via touch nor drive the car, like it did when I had a "guest" pairing of the phone before I did the key deletion/addition.

I used an admin profile.  I created another admin profile and tried that.

I have reset the T-Cam, did a reset of the infotainment tablet.  I have removed the app and reset my iphone and tried again with no progress.  I tried my wife's phone - no luck.

I tried disabling the wifi and bluetooth on the car and my phone.   I tried enabling just the bluetooth.

My app is up to date, my OS is up to date.  The car is software 3.2.4.

One thing I did notice is the car connects with "Accessory" bluetooth connection not "PS2" like it used to.  Is this new?  This is in addition to the "Polestar PS2" that the infotainment connects with.

Any thoughts?  Did I mess up the Digital key thing with the Orbit delete/add?  Can Orbit "see" or re-program the digital keys?

Thank in advance
Jeff

Photo mechanical gear lever to electronic gear lever
Posted by: michel - 09-09-2024, 03:48 AM - Forum: Engine / Transmission - Replies (5)

Hi guys
I have an idea to try changing the mechanical gear lever to an electronic gear lever through orbit。I tried, but failed. I will send you the process. If you are interested, we can discuss it.

I tested T8's EGSM and TACM on my V90cc, it was not work. So we took a XC40 T4 who has a shift electonique, and  used XC40's EGSM and TACM
as a comparison, give the result as follows:

On v90cc (GSM Original)   with 039 shift by wire type 2

      Scenario 1     T8's EGSM     *  T8's TACM        NO WORK
      Scenario 2     xc40's EGSM  *  T8's TACM        NO WORK
Scenario 3     xc40's EGSM  *  XC40's TACM    NO WORK (the screen shows that low shift performance)

The screen always shows that the gear is not in P gear. That is to say, I have been unable to recognize the gear position (in fact, the gear position is actually P gear), Like the picture
At the same time, I can also start and stop the engine.

On XC40 (EGSM Original) with 039 shift by wire type 2 original

      Scenario 1     T8's EGSM     *  xc40's TACM     NO WORK
      Scenario 2     xc40's EGSM  *  T8's TACM        WORK
The above are our comparative experiments and results. Next, I will present our theory. As shown in the figure 1 & figure 2

We chose the XC40 with EGSM original mode because they are all T series and AWD22 series gearboxes, so we believe that this is a mature hardware solution that matches the v90cc.
We connected as shown in the following diagram.

Invalid Key error when first trying to program
Posted by: WunderWagen - 09-09-2024, 12:27 AM - Forum: OrBit Q&A - Ask your questions here! - Replies (1)

Hello everyone,

Tried using Orbit for the first time on my 2022.5 XC90 T8 Recharge and kept getting an error of Invalid Key error 0x35.

The CEM Pin seemed to be accepted okay. Not sure next steps to fix this.

  Volvo V/S90 front seats retrofit/standalone.
Posted by: oleelstad - 09-08-2024, 03:48 PM - Forum: Retrofitting - Replies (25)

Hello.

I recently bought a few front seats from a Volvo S90 2018 model thinking I would put these in my patrol. Having worked with seats from earlier cars etc I thought this would be straight forward. However that is not the case.  Dodgy

Added a picture of the seats in mind.

Is there a way to get these seats to be standalone? I can run the motors etc for up, down, forward and backward by connecting straight too the motors. But using the buttons seems impossible. I have tried connecting +12V, GND and a signal to the blue/white cable which I've read somewhere is the "activate signal", that did not work however.

As far as I am aware there is no memory function on the passenger seat, but this could be a option on the main seats. I do not need these functions.

I am thinking that the controllers are integrated in the seats but maybe they need a canbus signal to activate? Does anyone know?

  Polestar 3 & 4

As the Polestar 3 and 4 begin rolling out to customers, I'm curious to hear whether they'll be supported within OrBit.
