BE ADVISED! VIDA detects any module replacement or addition!
Sounds simple. Gonna register tomorrow. But also gonna ask my volvo dealer if they can reload my SWM.

Edit: dealer will reload SWM for 100€.

You guys are USA citizens and have VIDA? Have you ever tried to route the ethernet connection to the OBD cable via VPN to try if its possible to serve outside us Volvo drivers with a working VIDA connection? Is this theoretically possible?

No. They now check VIN origin - if it's not a US car then both the car and VIDA account get banned.

I have a quick question related to SWM replacement.
On my 2017 XC90 i added heated steering wheel and of course i had to replace the SWM.
I have the same headache: when i need to go to the dealer need to replace the SWM.
Is it possible to do this ? To register the new partnumber ?
Thanks !

I live in Germany and had yesterday a call with my dealer. He is aware of my change and said it's no problem to reload the SWM. Cost for the software is 100€. For operation time he does not charge extra if we combine it with my windscreen calibration. He said it could be that also the SWS needs software. Would be additional 100€ but if I don't have any errors it should be fine.
For my other changes it's not necessary. Passanger seet module, aud and siren I can unplug in 5 minutes.

Thought about buying Vida and doing it myself, but with the license it will be more expensive.

To get Vida in Europe, you need a registered VAT ID and a connection to a Volvo workshop. And they check both of them before setting up your account.
