Swapped dual USB A hub to USB C
#21
Just realized I posted on Reddit but never here: All you do on the XC60/XC90 (maybe wagons/sedans versions) is carefully lift up with a trim tool flat screwdriver from the bottom center of the hub, it’s held in by plastic tabs so it pops out, and just swap the plug over and snap it back in. The car will immediately recognize it and works exactly as before. I had swapped mine because the ports were loose on the original causing CarPlay to disconnect often. After testing it worked perfectly so there was no good reason to replace it with the same ancient USB A type.

I tested it with iphone and android, works perfectly.

the only reason is more power for charging phones, as usb c has more compared to usb a

It has nothing to with the port type it's about the output amperage and both types supports up to 5 amps.  For example you can have an  USB-C wall adapter with 1,5amp and a regular USB wall adapter with 2.1 amp.  The regular would charge your USB-C phone faster than the other one.

Volvo's both oem USB-C and USB-a are up to 2.2 amp. So, if you had any difference in the charging speed, it's the cable and not the output.
Its not just amps that is important it is the protocols that are supported. with USB C Power Delivery (PD). On the reguolar usb a hub my s24 ulta shows as slow charging so I am considering this if it supports usb power delivery.

Good question! I tested this with my iPhone 16 Pro. Sorry to disappoint, but neither USB C port shows as PD. The upper white circled one used mainly for CarPlay/AA reads 7W and lower 12W. The lower charges slightly faster than the USB A ports which I saw 7W at most, and has been more reliable for CarPlay.
