Swapped dual USB A hub to USB C - Pau1ey - 11-13-2023 In my 2019 XC90 I was getting frequent CarPlay disconnects so I took a chance and ordered a new dual USB C hub, got it installed and changed 362 USB CONNECTION from "03 With USB Hub, type A" to "05 With USB hub, Type C". Wired CarPlay immediately worked great but threw DTC for IHU: U3002 - Vehicle Identification Number - Algorithm Based Failures - Signal compare failure. Also, none of my wireless CarPlay dongles work. I've cleared DTCs, reset ECUs, and left it locked overnight but still having same issue & DTC. Any idea if this DTC is due to not having software in the new USB C hub or something else? I'll have access to a new model loaner tomorrow 11/14 if there's a way to use it & VIDA if necessary or would I be better off buying a used USB C hub or USB A? I saw the thread where we can flash software if that's also a possibility. I had it in for service for the disconnect error, and of course they could not duplicate. Thanks in advance! RE: Swapped dual USB A hub to USB C - x119 - 11-13-2023 USB A <> USB C Did you try it without the change in config? I believe the one you are modifying is build information only and not end form of enablement. Good luck! Thanks for all the info! I have the C hub in and working finally, without any config changes. It ended up being an afternoon of trying the working C hub from the '24 loaner, different cables, clearing DTCs multiple times and then resetting ECUs. Also, FWIW, the fancy braided C to C cable that comes with the new iPhone 15 Pros might work for wired CarPlay, it certainly does not with 3 different wireless dongles in either car. TLDR - anyone wanting to retrofit from USB A hub to USB C should just need to buy the parts and swap it out. Possibly clear codes and reset ECUs. I have another long trip this weekend so I’ll know for sure if this fixed my issue but it seems like a much tighter connection so I’m hopeful. Don’t worry about changing that, I set mine back to the default and it seems to work fine now as long as I’m using a good cable. I thought it could make a difference for voltage/charging speed, but I don’t really have a way to test that.
