Wireless Charger install on 2017
#11
Quote:Is it in Your opinion worth the trouble to try to connect to FL 41 in an MY2020 as they do not have this as an option?

There are two things you should check.
1) Pull out the FL connector from the CEM and take a picture of the CEM connector. Make sure your CEM even has that pin 41. Some of the CEM from the factory does not even have all the PINs depending on the variant.

2) although some CEMs they have the PINs, they are disabled at the software level. In this case, not sure if Orbit has the feature to enable those for the wireless charger which can be answered easily by Power6

The real question is this.
At the end of the day if your goal is to have a wireless charger, what is the difference for you to have the oem one with all the trouble and cost than the $40 plug and play one?

Hi, Many thanks for answering.
The thing is that i bought a newer complete centerconsole with charger and supposed it would be easy to install. So i really did not need/wanted the charger. But now its there and it would be nice to have it working.
At a first glance there was some difference in the wiring in the center console but as i dug deeper it was minor changes and the connectors are the same.
  • The old console had a cigaret lighter in the back and a 15 amp fuse for that, the new has a USB-C charger and because it has a 7,5 amp fuse they moved the pin and changed fuse in the fusebox.
  • The old wiring had the 3 wires for paddles to the shifter, removed on the new.
  • Additional wires for the charger, black direct to ground under passenger seat, red to the fusebox in passenger footwell and Lin to CEM.
As it is newer and fresher and with light in the cupholder i will keep it but without the charger working if the Pin in CEM do not work.

@Power6, do you know if Orbit have this feature?

If you have the charger connected already now, so power red, ground black and green/white lin fl41, then I would like to see if you do get it enabled.

@Power6 would need to give you access to the program to test if you can actually enable it, if it works for you then thats great news if not then we need to research what Volvo has actually changed to make it work for 2021 onwards.

If this is a IHU issue or something else.

Can I ask anyone with a 2020 or 2021 without the wireless charger to enable it with OrBit and see if the error in config code in the IHU then is displayed?

Need to see if the ihu version are different.

Hi again!
Finally got everything connected. Lin from CEM which was a struggle.
And it actually works!!
So as soon as the engine is running the charger comes on.
It even works with my case on my iphone 15 Pro Max.
I choose the setting "with wireless charger" not the one with button on/off.
So for XC60 MY20 manufactured June 2019 (With regular softwareupdates at the dealer together with service) this worked for mee.

Hi,

Good news.

So to confirm you car didn't originally come with wireless charger, you retrofitted,  wired it in?

What options on Orbit did you choose?
What happens if you choose with on off button?
Option 366  to 04.
Your car uses the Sensus system?

Hopefully narrow down what my issue maybe.

Hi!

Wireless charger was not an option for MY 2020 so it was not delivered with that. The car has sensus.

I used the second option (02?) with just wireless charger no button

Will try next time to change to Button.

Ok, I will try it again.

Option 366 Wireless Phone Charger, with sub option 02 Inductive charging for smartphone.

Thanks.

Percy have you had a chance at trying the on off button option?

Thanks.

Just ordered the console with the wireless charger for $200. Has anyone got this retrofit working for older cars (mine is 2016)?

I'd be ok if it doesn't work since it's still going to improve the phone storage situation. I plug the phone all the time for CarPlay and the old console is just really inconvenient. Would be nice to have the wireless charger working though so it's a feature and not a bug lol
