Speed Limit Removal
#11
I have a car from 2021 with factory 180 km/h speed limit and setting 01 without speed limit works for me - car now goes faster than 180 km/h but I disn’t try maximum and after 200 km/h I returned to normal speed.

Im in Dubai we have open Roads in the City center with no speed limits. So i tried XC60 T6 R polestar r20 2018, the car will push till 200km/h and then it takes much longer to get to 240km/h. My car speed limited 260km/h.
Actually thats alot why should someone drive a VOLVO above 200km/h ?

Hi,

Start using Orbit today.
Have a 2021 T8 S60 Polestar Engineered (limit 180 kph)

I set it to no speed limit but now its limited to 250 kph.

250 instead of 180 is great, but shouldn't it be completely limitless?

I try set a number (300 kph) but the car stop at 250 kph again.

250 its the old limit that versions like 2020 have - that can be remove in tuning shops in my country.

Someone with the same problem?

Thanks!

Posting the same messages 3 times, won't generate a quicker reply.  Your engine does have a phyiscal limit, even when it's not limited by software. The actual top speed of your car is somewhere between 260 and 270 km/h.

Ok, Orbit can remove the 180 part.
The true limiter 250 no.
Have tested a 2020 Volvo with same engine but without 180 limit. The limit its 250 in 2020. After remove the car hit 293.
I will keep looking.

Let us know what you find buddy ;-) I hadn't heard of the secondary limit, but also very few people will take the car all the way up!

I can't beleive the T8, above 140kmh maximum speed of the ERAD, can get to 293kmh only on the ICE!

Yes, but above 250 kph is perfectly possible. Mainly on models before 180 kph limit. The 293 kph car have a removal by Heico. Apparently now they stop at 250-260 kph. Even Heico only garantee 250 kph vmax now.
Apparently the new cars (limit 180 kph) have some more secrets to discover.
I will keep trying.
Thank you very much for your work!

Sorry, but without proof, I don't believe this. I've set the limit at 275 and the car made it to 260 kph. From 250 to 260 took serious effort. It needs a lot of open German Autobahn to get there. And now you're telling me that you got it to 293 kph? Would like to see a proper video of that.

Here's how it works: There are a couple of 2021 cars that do have a 180 kph limit but are still the "old" model with Sensus and 11 kWh battery (45 km electric range). If you take the limit off, this car will go up to 250 kph. This is because the ERAD is disconnected after 140 kph.

The new long range cars can not do this because ERAD is not disconnected. 180 kph is a safe speed where the ERAD is not overheating. As soon as you go faster than 230 kph the car will go into limb mode and force you to stop. This is not an error, the ERAD is getting too hot and needs to cool down. I have seen this twice now with a MY2024 car. After waiting 30 minutes, the car restarts and all errors are cleared. So keep it under 230 kph and you're good. If you do not do this, add 30 minutes cool off to your trip.

Interesting. How can a person tell what ERAD they have? I'm an early 22, so I have the small battery. There is a sticker on it that says ERAD2. Kind of makes me assume the later non disconnect one?
