Tire pressure sensors
#51
Hi all, I can confirm those cheap eBay Velospinner TPMS sensors work in my 21 XC60. Using the Orbit settings posted on the first page, just had them installed and within a mile or two of "calibrating" on the way home, they all showed up on the screen.

Well, would you look at that... and all it took was a trip to the Volvo dealer to replace the CCD-IHU and update the system software (the Velospinner TPMS sensors were not the issue).

This time around was significantly different when it came to the calibration sequence.

Before there was no TPMS warning flag indication in the driver instrument panel after changing settings in OrBit, only the CCD-IHU displayed the warning flag, and after pushing the radio button to "calibrate" the system the little hamster wheel would spin for only about 10 seconds before it came back with a "failed to calibrate" warning.

This time after the trip to the Volvo dealer for a part replacement  / software update, and programing with OrBit (per instructions on the 1st page of this thread) the TPMS warning flag appeared on both the driver instrument cluster and also the CCD-IHU. when I took the S60 out for a drive and ran the "calibrate" the hamster wheel continued to spin for a much longer period of time (closer to 10 minutes in duration) and this time it returned with a "calibration complete" ... now I have a TPMS display with actual pressure values.  Smile  So I can confirm that this retrofit does indeed work.

In retrospect it is possible that the persistent DTC that was in my system (IHU: U2122E - Invalid Data Received From Vehicle Connectivity Module [VCM]) may have been the root cause for my S60 not being able to connect to the TPMS sensors.

AHAHAHAHA you got them working!! Good you have some other problem for the dealer to fix...I'm sure they were not going to help you if TPMS sensors were the only problem ;-)

I took  the key apart and it is missing FCC info and frequency. are US SPA cars 433MHz?? it would be great to add pressure reading to our 2019 V90 R
found many OE 433 sensors like this one https://www.ebay.com/itm/284733373979?ha...R47Iwr7JYg

I purchased the SCHRADER 28304 from RockAuto and can confirm they are working properly in my 2019 XC90. Personally, I wanted to stick with a name brand since I've had leaks and batteries die prematurely on no names in the past, though I couldn't justify the price of OEM. All it took was the first low tire pressure alert and that was enough for me to get them installed in all 4 tires. All 4 Jeeps I've owned always gave the actual #s and I'm happy to have that again.

Is the sensor ID printed on each sensor?

thanks, I found these that should work https://www.amazon.com/ITM-433mhz-Pressu...52&sr=1-27

Only some mfrs of TPMS print the individual ID of the sensor on the sensor itself.

It's a "nice to have" the ID, for me it was good to confirm the sensor IDs since I was building the interface in OrBit.

You really don't need the IDs though. The TPMS sensor system learns the sensors and their locations on it's own, no tools are required, just install them, change config to enable sensor TPMS with OrBit, and go. Once the sensors are learned, you can view the IDs in OrBit.

Good to see another known model of sensor that works!

The Schraders did have a sticker on each with the ID

I don't think, for most, the max speed would cause a real issue. I figure it's like tire speed ratings, rating for "sustained speed" over a significant time, but for a tire not rated for a speed, you could briefly exceed it without issue. Eh I don't know though, for our German users it can be a problem ;-)

As far I know, the sensors used on the previous chassis are not compatible with the system in the SPA.
