My 2020 XC60 T8 came without ACC enabled, and I want to activate it. According to this, I need the part (application) 32270914, which costs $2.7K, to make it OEM. Could it really be that expensive? Also, the dealer says that the ABS module should also be changed, which costs another $1,500. Maybe someone knows if all T8 models actually came with it?
Another option is to use Orbit, which has an initial cost of $225 and a yearly license fee of $100, and reset all the settings before going to the service. Is that a correct assumption?
I upgraded my 2019 s60 t5 officially by myself.
Yes, I had to replace the hydraulic unit in my case. I got very lucky found a brand new one in UK and cost me $650 USD including shipping to CA, USA. The cheapest one in USA was $1230 + shipping.
I paid another $350 USD for the labour. (replacement and bleeding the breaks) at a local shop. I could do it myself but it required some special tools to disconnect the brake lines.
Software itself on VIDA was $550 USD. (I assume it's still the same) but again I got very lucky with this too. On the day I did the replacement, VOLVO had issues with their payment system. They could not charge the credit cards due to some internal issue within their servers. I contacted support, they told me that they were aware of the issue and they gave me the software for free!!!
At the volvo service, they wanted $1500 for the labour (replacement and software installation) + $600 for the software and they wanted my original unit.
In your case, your car is twin engine thus you should not need to replace your unit. Just software installation. On the other hand, there are many folks here who enabled the pilot assist via Orbit without replacing the unit.
Basically, the correct unit is "238 TOP DAMPING, BRAKES >> 02 Friction brake actuator with top damping" You can connect the car to orbit read the OEM config. If you have 02, then you would know that you've been lied to. If you see, 01 ...without top dumping, you would need to replace according to official accessory information.
Thanks! Hmm, and when you say, "The software itself on VIDA was $550 USD," was that the same IntelliSafe Assist package, or was it something different?

You are welcome.
After the hydraulic unit is replaced, VIDA will show two different software reloads under the Hardware change TAB.
One if them is BCM and the other one is the intelli safe assists.
You should only order and install the intelli safe assists, that includes all the required software.
Before doing that make sure an external power is connected to the car and voltage shows above 13 volts. Otherwise VIDA will not install the software and most importantly, "Once you retrieved, do not cancel the installation," otherwise you will need to reorder the same software again and ask for a refund for the previous one.
Let's say, you clicked on retrieve and then clicked on install after VIDA downloads the software. VIDA gave you error message "Connect external power". Even if you do not have one around, Leave the VIDA as is. Make sure laptop is connected to power until you found one. If you cancel the installation at that time or before hitting the install button, that's it. You will need to re order.
Make sure the external power supply is not low on battery (if you are using a portable one because it takes a while to install.

Thank you so much! Unfortunately, I live in the EU, and it's impossible to use VIDA on our own (I tried purchasing it via VPN, but my card was denied). However, I'll try to convince the dealership not to change the hydraulic unit and instead install the software. Also, it doesn't make sense that the software for the XC60 costs $2,500, while for the S60, it's only $500, I wonder why there is such a difference.

No, It does. the prices you get in the VIDA is the manufacturer suggested retail prices and that's what they charge. But the service dealers add their profit on the top of it in addition they charge you software installation labour hours. I am not trying to justify the $2500, this is just how those scumbags operate.
VIDA will not install the software if your hydraulic unit is needed to be replaced. But something does not fit, if your car is "2020 XC60 T8" you should not need to replace your unit.

So, I finally got the cable and managed to read the configuration. Apparently, it's actually the wrong module I get:
" 238 TOP DAMPING, BRAKES >> 01 Friction brake actuator without top damping"

Well, that's indeed strange. According to VOLVO accessory information, T8 and mild hybrids B series should not need to replace the unit.
In any case there are many folks here who has enabled the ACC and PA without changing the 238 TOP DAMPING, BRAKES or replacing the unit.
You can also check your part number and verify its variant to part catalog.

Yeah, but I successfully enabled it with OrBit. I haven't had much time to test it over longer distances yet, but everything seems fine. Yeah, it would be nice to actually see what part number I have, but I imagine it's not that easy to check, as I need to physically disassemble the part, right?

You don't need to disassemble the part but yes, you will need to remove the plastic cover to see it. It's not hard to remove it, just couple of clips. However, it would still depend on where the manufacturer put the sticker. Mine was at the top, easy to see.
The other way around, is to check on VIDA. You can call your local service and ask them what part number you need for your VIN. Then check online what is the variant code for the part number service gave you. Then you can compare it to the one in the accessory webpage.
