Wireless Charger install on 2017
#21
So far based on my install and research, the Sensus IHU, wont support the turning the wireless charger on or off, if you IHU is version 3.0 or 3.1, you need 3.2 if you want the button.

You dont need the button, it can just work if you choose the wirless charging option.

You that have the issue of the wireless charging not working as the CEM on 2018 or before isnt able to support wireless charging control. So to get it to work on a 2016 you need to replace the CEM at the very least to the newer microcontroller.

How do you check the IHU version? Is it software or hardware? If that’s a hardware, would it work plug in play?

You can try turning on the wireless charger via orbit and see if it works. Connection is power grounds and lin to the cem.

Ihu for 2016 means you have version 3.0, that isnt compatible. You can test by turning on wireless charging with on off button.  If ihu returns a invalid config error it dont support it.

That sounds like a good excuse to replace IHU. Hopefully the newer version is a bit snappier. I’m reading some IHU 3.2 came with SSDs, would you happen to know which ones?

They did come with SSD but only 128gb not the 200gb you would have in your unit.

Replacing the ihu does cause issue of the vin and vida not allowing a reload as the updated ihu.

It seems to much of a headache to deal with just for a wireless charging button. You need to sort the CEM in order to get the charger to even turn on.

In this post someone is saying their IHU 18/08 still had an HHD https://forums.spaycetech.com/showthread.php?tid=519. Totally agree swapping an IHU for a wireless charger is an overkill. I wish my IHU was snappier. If that’s the case I’d be happy t swap it. Fram that thread it seems like the donor IHU would work plug and play but not get app/map updates. My car has an old 3G modem and I only use CarPlay for navigation and maps. I’m fine taking that if that’s the only drawback

I think you should wire in the charger and set it in Orbit, see if your CEM will allow charging.

IHU is newer hardware so is technically faster but you do have the microphones to replace also so even if you don't connect it to internet it will still require some more modifications. You need a IHU 3.2 for the Wireless Charging Icon.

Is there a thread or something on replacing IHU? Cannot find a good source. I’m good with running Vida or replacing some things, like microphones. I’ve done similar things for a BMW and a VW the only difference there’ve been more resources for those brands

That’s a great one, thanks! I see what you’re saying about the mics.

There is a photo of the HDD from the 2017 unit but doesn’t seem to be any info on the 2019+ units. Do you know if all 2019+ (IHU 3.2) units come with an SSD?

Also the HDD seems to be a standard 2.5’ one so I’d think it should be pretty easy to swap with an SSD, curios if anyone has tried that
