While the child lock message failed to disappear after writing the config to the car, and subsequently after driving for a short time, it did not appear later in the evening when I drove the car. So, it appears the car needs to be turned off (duration unknown) and turned back on for the message to clear. I did try exiting the car, locking the doors, and then re-entering the car a few moments later hoping that would clear the message.
