It’s funny when people just say "this has been done before, go read the forum," but they are always talking about Sensus.
Mine is the Android system. But I actually pulled it off! I successfully added 4 front parking sensors to a 2022/2023 XC60 iCup (Android) Plug-in Hybrid.
Heads up for the Android system: the parking sensors are managed by the ASDM module, which is located in the trunk!
Here is what you need for the installation:
- Front bumper wiring harness for 4 parking sensors
- 4 parking sensors
- 6 automotive-grade wires, 0.5 mm² gauge (must be automotive type with thin insulation), 9 meters each (I got 10 meters just to be safe)
- Wiring diagram
- Wire loom/conduit (around 3 meters)
- Fabric tesa/harness tape
And a lot of free time.
Additionally, I added a quick-disconnect plug right before the ASDM module. This way, when visiting an official dealership, I can easily unplug the sensors so the ASDM doesn't register anything extra. For this setup, you will also need 12 connector pins and one 6-pin connector (male + female).
The test activation went smoothly, and everything worked perfectly.
But right now, I'm a bit paranoid after those recent configuration updates where my IHU and CSM modules stopped responding.
