#11
Wink
I am in SOCAL, I never need heated one, no freezing cold  weather nor snow here  :-) But on the other hand it's damn expensive.

okey. it's done. finally. if i would rate this retrofit it stands as an 8/10, same as retrofitting four-c on my old xc70. be advise, have a friend to help you. i skipped that part and i can tel you that your back will hurt.

so regarding the window. i can confirm that not having hud windscreen will make it look dubbel and slightly unsharp. i will replace my windows tomorrow to the correct windscreen and will report back later if it's a big difference.

also i will take pictures of the quality betwen the windscreens.

if you wonder if i bought a new dash or not i can tell you that i did not. i used the dashboard cover to cut the hole. ther is a guide pin under the dahs so place the cover correctly towards that pin and it will be positioned corectrly

pictruer will come in next post.

for those who is reading this and planing to buy a volvo. save you the time and buy one with hud pre installed as it is a big jobb to retrofit

I made retrofit to my V60, and i needed another cluster to, because mine doesn't had LVDS output. My dash was marked on the back, and i cuted without problems

Sorry for the long delay.
I’ll be uploading the photos from my HUD retrofit in my V90 T8 MY18.

Initially, I had the standard windscreen (non-heated), so when I installed the HUD, the display appeared blurry and duplicated—almost as if you had poor eyesight and needed glasses. Due to other circumstances, my windscreen needed to be replaced anyway, so I went ahead and got a brand new OEM HUD-compatible windscreen.

The quality of the HUD display improved dramatically—more than I expected, even though I had previously driven a car with a HUD.
To say the least, you will definitely notice the difference between a non-HUD windscreen and one designed for HUD use. I’ve seen photos of a Russian guy retrofitting HUD into his XC90 with a heated windscreen, and the display didn’t look as blurry or duplicated as mine did on the OEM windscreen, so I can’t say for sure how it would look with a heated windscreen.

You can see my "before and after" photos showing how the quality changed, and how much the duplication issue improved. The difference is clear when compared to the pictures vs. reality.

Here are some pictures from the installation.

Does every meter have an output for HUD? Does anyone have a diagram of the harness that needs to be made?

need to have the 12 inch DIM the small one will not work i think. you can find the wiring diagram that i used earlyer in this thread. i got my wiring from an xc90. asked a scrap yard to cut the wires and mail me them as i also broke one of my air outlet temp sensors conector. costed me 900 kr sek.

i recomend before ordering stuff to verify that you have the white lvds conector on the right side behind the DIM to be sure. also activate sensus navi if you dont have that pre installed to get navi i the hud. (mine was with sensus navi from factory. orbit can activate this) i can'tanswer for AAOS cars what to be activated to get navi in hud. my guess i thet it will work without any changes to navi level
