Engine Remote Start
#31
Hello, my XC 60 D3 2019 cannot be turned on from the app. It is manual transmission. Is there a possibility to modify this to be able to do it?

No, it is not possible and there is a reason for that.
Anyway. there is physical switch that cuts the ignition if the clutch paddle is not pressed.

In my opinion it doesn't make sense. By overriding that physical button, if the control unit detects that the vehicle is in neutral, it could turn on the engine. Otherwise, no. I think it's a brand mistake. It doesn't make sense that it can't be done. Just as the automatic gear must be in position P to be able to turn it on from the app, the manual gear must be in neutral.

Well, there are regulations for that which are different in every country. For example, in USA the clutch paddle must be pressed for ignition regardless if the gear is in N or not. So, car manufactures has nothing to do with it. However, the new regulations do not effect the older cars though. That's why you can find cars in USA do start without the clutch paddle pressed.

Would remote start be possible on a manual transmission vehicle?

The MidCity folks are not sure about which models they are compatible with... but it turns out their device mimics the remote start commands with the Volvo App, so if you have OrBit, you just need to make sure "remote start by app" is configured and the device should work!

Absolutely insane that they aren't sure. And the website is an absolute mess. Different cars are listed in different places. I actually tried working with them to get it up to date...they weren't really interested. Cannot even imagine not wanting your webpage to be consistent and up to date.

This is what they told me:
We have not verified the 2019 S60 but if it has the touchscreen tablet style center council radio and the Volvo on call option, we believe the SKSXC (https://www.midcityengineering.com/produ...art-sksxc/) will work.  This will allow you to remote start the vehicle from your factory key fob.  If it does not have both of these features, unfortunately it will not work.

(you do not need Orbit for this either in the US)
This tells me it will work on literally every Sensus Volvo with Thor hammers because they all have that screen and VOC. By that description alone...it should work on AAOS cars. If I was MCE...the only company that offers this...I'd damn sure want to find out.

Absolutely embarrassing how bad that webpage is.
This is the main page that lists which cars it works on. https://www.midcityengineering.com/devic...y-starter/
S60 not even listed. ONE year of the V60 is?
But then if you click on any of those it takes you to a page and there is a completely different list of cars it supports.

2019 V90CC was not listed back, when I'd ordered the module. Install it and all remote start works just fine for several years now, not sure why MCE wouldn't list that wagon.

Selecting V60 2021-2024 will show all Volvo's from 2021, even S60
I am also tempted to buy this but I don't really understand the "international" part of the functionality. I do live in Germany...
2019 V60 D4 Automatic Momentum with AHB
ACC/PA/Backup Camera with OrBit
