fitting backup camera
#11
Hi Power6, yes Sir I knew I have to wire it from the back up to the IHU.
Thats no problem, I hope  Shy
I the thing I hope for is to activate the camera in OrBit so I dont have to visit
the stealer.
And yes Marinalin can/wil you give some part numbers, that would be nice Sir.

It's a good thing to post the part numbers anyway.
I did the retrofit also. You have to remove a lot of interior panels but you can cut some corners from the original manual . Just make sure the cable is fastened everywhere.

Does any one know which cable is needed to connect camera to the IHU must it be the original or are there any options. Which part number is the harness. I found online camera and boot handle for 65€.

I also hope I can cut spme corners on the panel removal. On my A3 I did tuck the cable under the plastic panels cause I didn't want to remoce half of the interior. Hope to do the same here
So, the camera needed is 32286665. When I first searched for it, most of the ads were saying XC90 and some of them XC60. I think I only found 1 ad that said V60. Looking at the parts list from volvo I saw that all of them use the same camera meaning no worries to buy the right part but check to see if its only for the Rear Park Assist Camera not for 360°
Now the harness, some website states that the cable from XC90 should be compatible with XC60 but on most of them, the V60 had a different part number. But having the same camera, that means that the cable has the same connector, the only reason for a different part number could be the cable length which wpn't be a problem for me since V60 is smaller than XC90, so I bought the cable from XC90 (because it was a lot cheaper).31454887  harness XC90 / 31664614 harness V60. Boot handle also shows the same on all 3 so I went with the cheapest one - 32149879. Lastly the camera bracket needed to secure the camera to the handle - 31391859 also the same on all 3.

Keep in mind the camera and the harness is from the catalog of XC90/60/V60 2019 without 360°. Newer models and 360° models usses different part numbers

You will also need a few tools like plastic prying tool (use a flat head screwdriver if you don't have), a hook to pull the panel below the IHU (you can diy one), some torx and sockets and a wire guide (also not really neccesary but you can diy). Some cable ties if you really want to do it as per instructions
Hopefully OrBit makes it possible. In 22nd I have some maintenance at Volvo so I need to do it after (just in case) and a good day (to much rain lately)
I'll keep you posted

Unfortunately I couldn't find an aftermarket one. Even sent some emails to Volvo for the part numbers of the connectors and what type of wires are needed but they wouldn't tell me

Rear parking camera is simple job in meaning of installation, all you need is  camera + cable + handle (in cars where no preparation for rear parking camera) , cable connects directly rear camera to IHU, i mean simple connection, and sure if not skilled with disassembling, etc. better give that job to some experienced mechanic guy or guys who deal with such things, or follow some youtube removal tutorials for parts, ihu etc.

Different part numbers for so called lvds hsd cable which connect camera to ihu is cause of different lenght of cables, longer cars need longer cable and oposite... But in fact it's lvds-hsd cable, and you can order it at oficial Volvo dealers, think not so expensive and that in Europe for some models was something like 25-35 euros, and you get new unused cable, and dont need much check online, simply give VIN of your car to dealer, and tell that need cable for rear camera and they will find right one,  handle and camera not so cheap at dealers, so them find online ebay, local selling sites etc.

Would like hear by anyone who suceed activate Rear parking camera by Orbit app, to share by us experience? Maybe Power6 author of app can confirm us, can be Rear paking camera activated by Orbit app, to show rear camera view and those graphical view-interface with yellow lines on IHU display? Volvo at their website mentioned some kind "software" need load, but i think software is already installed in IHU, and just need by changing configuration enabled it?

Based on the camera pinout, that cable doesn't look compatible

Also, I called 1 dealer (not mine cause I don't want him to know about the camera ?) and he said "roughly 200€" for the cable

But I'm not surprised. For Oil change they quoted the oil, which was Eni (the cheapest one possible) 144€ but you can buy that exact oil for 70€ anywhere. So, stealer be stealer

The rear of the camera is 6 pins if I remember correctly.
They are in 2 rows of 3.

Edit sorry J was talking of the front and sides camera. Not sure the plug on the rear one!
