Transmission Sound
#1
Hi,

Wondering anyone here encountered a clunking sound when engaging reverse from drive?
When i engage reverse after car is in 'D', there's always a slight vibration followed by a rather loud 'Clunk', however, after 'R' is engage, vehicle will reverse normally/smoothly.
I also noticed that if i put to 'N' first from 'D', wait a sec or 2, then engage 'R', the clunking sound will be gone or less noticeable, altho' the slight vibration will still be apparent.
Seeking advise if anyone knows where should i start checking first? Read that it can be the transmission mount/drive shaft or the transmission itself.
TIA

Does anyone know what is the typical part of the transmission mount to change? I searched and found there are like so many parts involved, like side mount, mount, torque arm, rear mount, etc?
Really appreciate some input pls.
thanks.

I assume you have XC40 (from your diagram)
1. Engine upper mount
2. Gearbox upper mount
15. Lower engine antiroll mount
17+19. Lower gearbox antiroll mount (19 has a small bush)
9. Bracket for 1
12. Bracket for 15
