What kind of password is the hard drive protected with? Can it be imaged and transferred to try and cracknthe password? Or it is it just cem pin? 

It's not like that. It's like a bios lock on the disk's firmware.  It seems VOLVO is using the same password because I replaced my IHU's HDD from a newer SSD one and it worked.

Anyway so just get the air system install it the power, ground and lin, and it will just do it thing but I wont ever know how well?

Then you will need to enable Advanced air cleaner.  Item 340 set to 02 - With Advance Air Cleaner and  Item 247 set to 04 - HVAC Filter type "Multifilter 3"
The CCM decides when to enable it. 

There is a DID in the Orbit to check the Advanced air cleaner status.

Interested on the hdd change. Did you notice any general speed improvement on the sensus GUI after the replacement? Is it possible to replace the original hdd with any standard ssd or must It be any kind of specific ssd? If standard, what kind of drive is needed? Where is It located and how is replaced?

Did you notice any general speed improvement on the sensus GUI after the replacement? 

It's hard to say because I did not run any benchmarks or measure the load time before and after but I did noticed that navigation loads a bit faster when searching for POs. 

Is it possible to replace the original hdd with any standard ssd or must It be any kind of specific ssd? If standard, what kind of drive is needed?

Frankly, I do not know.  My replacement IHU came with the new SSD but I could not download any software on the replacement IHU due to certificate mismatch. In addition, the disc has several different partitions inside and I don't know if IHU can re-partition and format a brand new disk. Maybe there is a service command for it I don't know. Not to mention, the disk is password protected and I don't know if IHU would accept a drive without the same password.  So,  here is what I did to get all my applications installed on the new IHU and SSD drive. 
1) I connected back the original IHU with its original HD 
2) Uninstalled all the applications from old IHU and old HDD. (I noticed that VOLVO keeps the record of the installed apps and they do not appear in the available apps list)
3) Installed the SSD drive of the new IHU to the old (original) IHU. 
4) Installed all my applications from the download center. 
5) Removed the SSD from the old (original) IHU  and installed it on the new IHU. 
6) Install the NEW IHU and I had all my applications. 

I still could not update any apps or maps due the certification. Then I connected the VIDA and installed market certificate change. I could download or update maps from the download center. Since then I could update several installed apps too. 

Where is It located and how is replaced?

On the IHU. bottom side. Several screws and then you can pull out the HDD holder bracket.
