Advanced Air Cleaner Retofit?

Hi,

Does anyone know where all the sensors and wiring is need to install the advance air cleaner in 2018 XC90?

I read up that i will need the pm2.5 sensor and the air cleaner ionizer, bit do these fit into the normal intake box?

Not sure where these sensors go or any part numbers. Don't care about the app to check just need the cleaner air.

It is very simple. 
For XC series you would need this  part number: 31497531
It needs ground, LIN and power. Not sure if it's pre-wired or not. 
LIN is shared with the driver side seat heating module. 
You need to remove the wiper hands, than the Plastic cover. It's on the passenger side AC intake. Or you can try to lifting the plastic up from the passenger just enough to slide the part in.

No and it has no use if you do not have it from factory. 
I retrofitted the PM2.5 sensor and it's useless. It requires power from fuse box, ground and LIN goes to the CEM. Then from Orbit enabling the sensor. 
However, air quality application in sensus is not a pre-installed software that can be enabled. It's an optional app downloadable from the Sensus Download center app for the cars equipped with it from the factory!   but It is not available in the sensus download center for the cars like mine did not came with it from the factory! 
Since the app does not exists, IHU does not request reading from the CEM and CEM does not send request to sensor. 

We are still looking into how to instal air quality app but so far the only way to get it is that,  copying the application files manually into the IHU's hard disk which is password protected. You need special software to unlock it.  In order to get the app files, you need to find an IHU that has the app already installed.  

Advanced air cleaner does not use the  PM2.5 Sensor, it uses already existing air quality sensor connected to CCM. The same air quality sensor is used by the CCM to automate cabin air circulation. (Recycle or fresh air from outside)

What kind of password is the hard drive protected with? Can it be imaged and transferred to try and cracknthe password? Or it is it just cem pin? 

Anyway so just get the air system install it the power, ground and lin, and it will just do it thing but I wont ever know how well?

It's not like that. It's like a bios lock on the disk's firmware.  It seems VOLVO is using the same password because I replaced my IHU's HDD from a newer SSD one and it worked.

Then you will need to enable Advanced air cleaner.  Item 340 set to 02 - With Advance Air Cleaner and  Item 247 set to 04 - HVAC Filter type "Multifilter 3"
The CCM decides when to enable it. 

There is a DID in the Orbit to check the Advanced air cleaner status.

Is the pm2.5 sensor and the air quality sensor the same just on the later versions it uses the om instead of the quality sensor?

I'm.planning in trying to trick the VIN on the sensus to hopefully download the sensus air quality app or unless you have found where the file is and just copied and pasted it into the hard drive that has been cracked?

I have the advanced air cleaner or ionizer part, just need to install it now. Wiring where do I tap into the power etc on the car all underbonnet or do I have to drag wires into the car itself? 

And I will need the pm2.5 sensor if I some how enable the air quality app. The sensor location is unknown to me. The wiring diagrams are no where near as clear as ford ones.

No, they are different and serve different purposes.  The Air quality sensor is in the engine bay under the same plastic cover (AC air intake).

You can get the power and the negative from the engine bay but you will need the LIN wire go inside anyway.  So, get a 22/3 AWG 3 Conductor Electrical Wire and pull it in. There is a plastic cover from the engine bay to inside at the passenger side. look at this.   Image 190 and later.  You can use a fuse tap, to get the power from fuse box. Negative, just attach the cable to body. LIN, If you already have the heated front seats, tab it to the driver side heat controller LIN wire.

The PM 2.5 sensor is on the AC . Under the glow box. remove the plastic cover as you are replacing the cabin filter.  It's not pre-wired. So, you will need to wire it yourself. 
However, it is useless without the app. You cannot trick the sensus (IHU) to download it.  I replaced my IHU because it was faulty due to liquid damage. It would not download anything even the map updates. Because it has a certificate inside which does not match to the VCMs and CEMs.  I reloaded market certificate from VIDA and that solved my issue but previous owner had not installed the air quality app on it. So, that application does not show up. You see, VOLVO shows applications only matching the VIN. then during download it checks the certificate of the IHU. 

In Chinese market there is another PM 2.5 cleaner module called air ionizer located on the front center air vents. Not possible to get without removing the whole dash because it's located between the air docks and the dashboard.

I will install the air cleaner and wire it up and activate it. 

As for IHU, is the file structure simple so apps are located in a folder and its a simple copy paste? Just need a car that i can use the hard drive from my car in, download and move back over?

Do you by any chance have a picture of the location of the pm sensor? And how is that wired in?
