Retrofitting camera
#1
Hi, maybe it's a dum question but has anyone tried to install an aftermarket reverse camera without installing some decoder or something? Much more variety of aftermarket cameras and the possibility to put wireless cameras, not to dismantle half of car for a camera cable...

Quick answer no. If you go with any kind of aftermarket camera wireless or not, you will need a decoder between the IHU and CSM (center screen) to switch the display from regular to rear camera view when ever reverse camera is engaged or user input somehow.

Adding a reverse factory reverse camera is easy and you don't need to dismantle half of the car.

Well you have to install the cable for the camera, was wondering if there's a magical cable to trick the sensus, but I guess not, I don't know what to choose , original or aftermarket.....

I got the OEM camera on order for my V60. I'm planning to carry out this retrofit within upcoming weeks. Detailed installation instruction for pretty much every Volvo is available. I can add some points or photos once installation is complete. If you want to do it as per Volvo manual then it can be quite time-consuming if you do it for the first time. I'm installing dashcam in the same time.

This is the cheapest I found:
https://www.swedendrive.com/rear-parking...vo-v60-s60
Around 400eur including shipping in EU.
It comes as kit with everything you need to retrofit this installation.
I bought it in Poland as sweden drive.com was only giving 12months warranty. And if I buy in Poland I got 24 months. Just in case...
