Catalyst/DPF Error - ECM-P042000
#1
Hello,

I am having an issue with a catalyst error – ECM-P042000 – Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1).
Is it possible to diagnose or permanently disable this error using ORBit?

DPF? Your B3 should be a patrol engine. It has a Gasoline Particulate Filter (GPF), not a diesel DPF.

Have these things checked first:

Exhaust system for leaks before/around the catalytic converter
Front and rear oxygen/lambda sensor readings
Exhaust temperature sensor readings
Fuel mixture / fuel-trim values
Misfire history
GPF condition and regeneration history
Software/ECU updates
Any other stored or pending ECM fault codes

Especially important: check the lambda sensors.

The ECU determines catalyst efficiency by comparing the oxygen/lambda behaviour before and after the catalyst.
If the downstream sensor behaves incorrectly, the car can report P042000 even when the catalyst itself isn't necessarily defective.

If Orbit can do all this i am not sure. Maybe you need VIDA, lets wait for the experts.
