PID discovery and Orbit

Hi all,

I’m using Orbit with my 2016 XC90 T8 (SPA platform). I would like to know if Orbit can directly read out specific PIDs, such as:

- Hybrid battery State of Charge (SoC)
- Electric range
- Charging status (AC/DC, power)
- Climate control / heater status

So far I’ve been experimenting with WiCAN and MQTT → Home Assistant, but I’d prefer to use Orbit if it can decode these values more easily (without having to sniff all CAN frames myself).

Can Orbit access these PIDs directly, or is it limited to diagnostics (DTCs, service functions)? And if possible, is there documentation or a module/DB available for SPA cars?

Yes, you can use either the preset items or if you have another need input yourself. The database in Orbit is fairly comprehensive and able to interpret data per Volvo/Polestar.
