About a month ago remote start in Volvo Cars app stopped working.
When I click to remote start a car, spinner will appear and run for a long time.
Eventually it will fail without any error.
I've scanned for error codes, but there are none.
I've restarted VCM module using OrBit, nothing changed.
I've even changed SIM card.
Around the time this stopped working I've retrofitted alarm siren and interior alarm sensor (but I'm not sure if it's the exact same time this stopped working).
One thing I've noticed is that when I get into a car and start it, car doesn't have cellular reception.
It takes a minute for it to acquire it, as if modem was turned off while car was parked.
What could be the issue? What to try next?

Wow! I have the same problem, and also after installing an alarm... although it says it detects someone inside and that's why it won't start...

Nothing. I thought it was a one-off app error, but it still doesn't work. Not only does it fail to start, but the lights don't turn on, it won't unlock remotely... no commands work, I can only see vehicle data but nothing.

Guys if you say you installed alarm, this means in both cases siren (714) and the indoor sensor under the back mirror? Or just the siren or do we have a mix here.
In both cases you activated the needed config by orbit to enable siren and/or the sensor?
Did you try to go back to oem with your alarm settings?
Also when done that did you try to unplug the parts?
Afaik at least the siren is connected to LIN an therefore maybe detected even if config unchanged.

Problem solved!!!
The problem was that I had also activated option 045/3 (ERS by APP, running light). I had option 2 activated and switched to option 3. Today I switched back to option 2 and it's fixed. Now I can start the car, unlock it, turn on the lights...
I left the alarm connected and it's working fine.

Do you have US market cars or why do you have ERS working? I can't german car...

I simply enabled the option to turn on the lights when starting the car with the app. Now I've disabled it again and only start the car from the app.

I have a theory what could be my issue, but can't find any prof online it works like this.
I think my 12V battery is failing. Car starts fine because its mild hybrid, but when I tested it with multimeter after being parked for whole night it, it showed 12.1V.
So my guess is that BMS detected low voltage and now each time after car is parked it turns off unnecessary modules including VCM.
Could this be the case?
Is there any parameter I could read using OrBit that would confirm this?

If you are in Germany there is a law against it... StVO... You need to change the market of the car with volvo workshop to other one in order to work ERS.

By Volvo workshop you mean OrBit right? Don't forget, it's more powerful than VIDA in the sense it allows you to make any change, not just those defined by Volvo.
