Here is the information I used to successfully replace/upgrade my 2016 XC90 T6 from 3G to 4G.

Did you order all the parts separately (VCM, Bracket, Harness) or did you order the 36003681 "Kit"? Just curious whether the kit contains all that.

I need to call the dealership I ordered it from anyway, just to make sure they actually have it in stock. I'll check with them to see what it comes with.

I ordered them separately at the Volvo parts counter. They wanted to sell me the battery and I said I would come back for that if the existing one didn’t work. It did not work but the new VCM had a new battery installed in it already. It just had to be plugged in.

I mean relocating the control unit in the vehicle. I only know about doing this in the USA. The cost was about $1200 for me using my discount through my LLC on Repair Link Shop.

Ohh. Thanks. You mentioned about relocation in the car, I thought about market relocation.

Okay, thanks for that. I'm a little worried the kit won't come with everything I need.

The parts counter didn't call me back and I just got a notification it's shipped so I guess I'll get what I get.  Big Grin

So I can confirm that part 36003681 "Kit" does include everything. (VCM, wiring harness, bracket, SIM card and hardware)

It all arrived last week and I have plans to install it this week. I'll let y'all know how it goes!

Hi there, thanks for all your help!

I'm wondering if, after activating the telematics module in the VCM, should Vida still show the TEM present in my network?

All the telemetrics stuff is working in my VCM (I can connect to WiFi and the tests for the 4G connectivity pass as well) but it looks like VIDA still expects the TEM to be there?

After running the diagnostic sequence (VIDA-> Planning & Diagnostics -> Components -> ECUs -> VCM -> Diagnostic Sequences -> Activate the telematics function in VCM) both of the software packages I downloaded disappeared from the list in the Software list, so I think it must have installed, but I'm confused about why it's still in the network.

Ah, nevermind... after I disconnected then reconnected with VIDA, there were three new software packages to install.

I finished installing those and now the TEM is absent from the network.
