No no, that's not what I mean, sorry!
On my car, when starting up, on the center screen SS must be turned off every start again if you don't want it. Now not  anymore. The button now remembers the last position.

Remote start and heating, I do in the App on my iPhone

He’s talking about 271 auto start and stop.  In many cases it is set to default to on and reset to on with ever startup. On older cars the button had memory so you could turn it off and leave it off.

What I know on Stop/Start Memory:

Sometime in 2020 Volvo updated Sensus cars in the US and Canada to have "memory" for S/S setting. If you turn it off in a drive mode, like default Comfort mode, it says off when you start the car. I bought my S60 in 2019, it did not have memory but later a software update at the dealer was done and it then had "memory".

I beleive 2018 and earlier cars, either were not updated with this function for US/Canada, or don't support it, more testing is needed there. It is not clear, since it was a software update, it may depend on when the last software update (Total Upgrade) was installed on the specific car, to whether the 271 setting will work or not to enable S/S memory.

Volvo did not add "memory" for S/S to cars outside the US, they continued to default to S/S on each start, though those cars support it. This was not easy to change, from build codes, i.e. using VDash or others, as the setting keys off a market setting (enables only if the market variant code for the car is US or Canada).

With OrBit you can change it, as item 271. This allows cars outside US to have the S/S memory.

The later Android/Hybrid cars do not have the ability to disable stop/start from the screen that I know, no button. On 271 setting to 02 will not change anything, no button will appear. Using setting 03 "No button/No symbol, always off (HEV/PHEV/BEV)" I beleive does work for those cars, to disable S/S completely.

As far as 2018 cars are concerned, this is literally the first thing I changed in my XC60 when I got OrBit. I switched from "01 Button without memory, Standard symbol" to "02 Button with memory, Standard symbol" and it works perfectly: the car now remembers the last settings on start up. I'm not sure it's driving mode dependent, though: it's always on in Eco, always off in Dynamic/Polestar, and it follows whatever I set in the checkbox for Individual mode.

It overrides and isn't changed by drive mode.

I could be wrong, maybe only testing some modes: For me, it def remembers on or off in Comfort, on or off in Individual mode, the other 2 I am not sure sure, so I probably thought it was all the modes.

Close enough though, it does what it needs to do. Good to know some confirmation it works on 2018. Probably if it doesn't work for a 2018, time for a Total Upgrade!
