2016 XC90 DIM swap

Hello all. I have a 2016 XC90 with a dead DIM. I got a used unit with the same part number. After installing it everything works but the fuel gauge is not working and low fuel warning light is blinking. Fault says configuration fault. Any suggestions how to fix this issue?⁵

Speculation but is there a difference in the software for diesel Vs petrol?

DIM has 8 or 9 software inside. The simple way to resolve tour problem, is to change the main board from your DIM to new DIM. Is a simple operation, just  unscrew the rear screws, unplug the contector from the board and install it in the new DIM.  And  you will have 100% your DIM, with all the function.  Or you can go to a Volvo shop and ask DIM reload

Hi there. The hardware all have the same part number for the same MY but software is different depending on the car's options. 
I can not install the board from the old DIM because its damaged. The replacement DIM is a used unit with a different VIN. I have fixed the VIN problem. Out of the 8 software in the unit, 2 of them are write protected and can not write on them. I have the Vida online account but Vida will on reload the new unit, not a used one.
