Front parking sensor for S60 2024
#1
Hello everyone,

I am aware that this topic has already been discussed, but I would like to clarify a few details.

  1. From what I have found, in the 2024 models the sensors are connected to the ASDM. Where exactly is this unit located, and is a specific version required to retrofit front PDC?
  2. Can any front bumper harness be used, or is a dedicated one necessary? The same question applies to the sensors (4x PDC). My intention is to use only the PDC harness and integrate it with my existing system.

Thanks for all the help.

As far as I know.  The Active Safety Domain Master (ASDM) on a 2024 Volvo S60 is located at the front of the vehicle, behind the grille.
Since your car does not have them, most likely your existing front bumper harness does not have the sensor connectors and wires in it.  Try to find a used one with the parking sensor option.

I dug through the car and found out that the ASDM is in the trunk under the floor (32410190).
Does anyone know if I’m able to add front PDC with this unit?  Does it matter which PDC sensor number I use?

The dealer told me that technically my car is a MY2025.

I have exactly the same problem: adding four front parking sensors. I have a 2023 XC60. Theoretically, it's possible, but I haven't found anyone who's done it. The wiring diagrams suggest running wiring into the trunk to the asdm. But I can't bring myself to do it because I don't understand how to route the wiring into the car or whether it will work. I also need to find the right wiring for the bumper. No matter how hard I tried to plan for everything, I still bought the wrong wiring. It says four sensors, but the wiring also has a connector for the front radar, which I also don't have.

But you don't need to use the radar connector. Just use the pins for the PDC and add them to your OEM wiring.

Routing is not that bad, the main problem is finding a route into the car. Do you have any information on whether every ASDM is able to handle front PDC?

Can anyone with VIDA confirm whether I need to connect the PDC to the CEM or the ASDM?

Unfortunately, opinions are divided.

I purchased a 2025 S60 Core with no front parking sensors. I'm having a Volvo specialist troubleshoot retrofitting the front parking assistance. Right now the rear PAM was replaced and reprogrammed. It appears the CEM has to be reconfigured to accept the front sensors because the car does not recognize there's supposed to be front sensors (no coding errors appear with VIDA).

Before I purchase the front four sensors, wiring harness, and connecting lead harness to the PAM the main computer needs to see the front sensors. Unfortunately Volvo has been making retrofitting more difficult from the previous generation models. Theoretically, the retrofitting can be done, with a cost of new hardware and labor.

VIDA programs "reload software" only the officially offered retrofits for the VIN. The software appears under the functional changes.
On my 2019 s60. THe front fog light connectors exist on the bumper although the car did come with them.  On the other hand, the wiring did not continue to the CEM.

I retrofitted the original fog lights and completed the wiring from the front bumper harness connector up the CEM.
From VIDA, I could even turn on / off the fog lights under CEM activations. However, VIDA does not provide FOG light software for my VIN although the existing CEM and its stock config could control the retrofitted factory fog lights.

Here comes Orbit in place. After adding the equipment and missing wiring, you can use the Orbit to enable those functions. VOLVO service will simply tell you it's not possible.

I don't have the wiring diagram of 2025 s60 so, I don't know the parking sensor wiring and control unit is changed or not.
If someone here has VIDA subscription, may help you with the wiring diagram of s60 2025 but a VIN number that has front and rear parking sensors is required to have because VIDA shoes wiring diagrams specific to a VIN number. General model and year selection also shows wiring but it is not always accurate due to market differences and production week.

Forgive me for not understanding... So my S60 did not originally come with front parking assist; therefore a VIN from another S60 is required to properly activate the sensors for the front recognition?

I can changing the configuration in the CEM with OrBit?

No,  you need a VIN of another 2025 S60 that has front parking sensor in order to obtain correct front parking sensors wiring diagram, sensor part numbers from VIDA.
Accordingly, it will also show you the location of the module, connector numbering and how to reach it.
Once you have the wiring diagram, you can install the front parking sensors to your car, wiring them accordingly and use the orbit to enable them on your car.
If you are going through all this, you can also add the 4 side sensor (2 if you already have 6 total at the back) and enable semi-automatic parking.

there is this one but it's for SPA MY24 vehicles (structure week 202317 - ).  Volvo keeps changing stuff lately.
