Preserve DTCs?
#1
Is there any way to preserve DTCs during flashing? Why I ask: I had a low coolant warning in my MY24 V60CC. The car is one year old, so I topped up with some distilled water and called the service center to make an appointment. Before I went there, I reverted back to the OEM (just in case). One of the postprocess steps is to reset all the DTCs, and that proved somewhat problematic in my case. In fact, the service center found a leak in the coolant pump that needed to be replaced. Since my car is still under warranty, they would do this at no cost to me. However, to do this they need that DTC warning that was removed during the reflash. Fortunately, the servicemen didn't make a big deal about it, and we finally settled on a scenario where they would suck out some coolant to force the car to alert again that it was low, and then we could proceed with the warranty pump replacement.

Now my question. Am I now able to save and restore the DTCs? Or can I request such a feature in OrBit? I.e., a new "Preserve DTCs during flash" option that would look up all DTCs prior to flash, save them, perform a flash, reset all DTCs, and then restore/generate the saved ones?

no not possible.  Orbit clears the DTCs as post action because config changes and resetting the ECUs which are part of post action, generates DTCs.
Some of those DTCs would come back eventually if there is indeed something wrong with the car just like in your case.

"Low coolant " mesage, does't trigger any dtc. You will have only in DIM this mesage. ECM doesn't save any DTC
