Back to OEM or not...
#1
I have read the whole forum but there is so much different info that i like to have some GOOD feedback.

Since a few weeks I have changed some setting to my V90CC 2018 D4
Changed items are;
  • Bending high beam instead of bending low beam only
  • High beam to small village
  • Auto pilot to level 2 instead of level 1
  • Curve speed assistance
  • Start Stop with memory instead of normal start stop
  • Polestar optimalisation
In two weeks from now I need togo to the Volvo dealer for my On Call battery (end of life problem) so they are going to connect my car to Vida.

Do I need to put my car into OEM mode before I go there or is this not necessary because I don't have any hardware module changes?

When I connected the car for the first time to OrBit, I did not make a default/OEM backup. So I think I need to undo the changes by hand.

Looking forward some feedback

Pretty sure orbit makes a backup automatically and you can just click restore oem .
And yes, restore to oem before going to dealer

Orbit does not make automatic backups.
You do not need to backup OEM settings, you can use button restore to OEM and that's it.  Orbit uses info from CEM for restoring to OEM.
Backup your current config by using the backup button so that after the dealer visit you can load your backup and load the config back to your modifications at once, This way, you wouldn't need to go over one by one.

On Thursday i'm going to dealer to mount an original tow bar. They will update software with Vida for that. Then, in CEM ,tow bar will be visible as an OEM?
If i change something with Orbit after that and press restore to OEM button tow bar setting still be present?

Yes, If an accessory is added via VIDA officially, it becomes OEM setting.

FYI, you see that dialog when OrBit doesn't have a specific version of a bit of software that is in your car. So it prompts you to back it up from the car. Most users will never see that, I keep the versions up to date with new releases. But some cars with very old versions of CEM software, OrBit doesn't have them and I can't get them. So we copy it from the car. And then OrBit uploads that copy, so I can add it to the catalog for other cars that have the same old version of CEM software.

This is complication that you don't need to know! Just follow what OrBit says to do and all is well ;-) But the backup taken, is not a backup of the car config, we never need to store a backup of config settings for the car.

Not sure if I get this right, i have replaced my pc and installed orbit again and was forced to make a new orbit profil, I made some config changes with my old pc but want to restore the car now, can I just click ”restore to OEM” even with my new car profile and without a backup from my old computer?

Yes, you're all set. Restore to OEM on the new laptop will work just fine!

I have a Sensus car too, does it even matter if they block my car? We aren't getting any more updates.
