Volvo S60 gen. 3 2019 T8 A few questions from a beginner
#1
Hello All,

I have no experience in modifying cars, but I had to do the following in my Volvo S60 gen. 3 2019 T8:

1) Changed the headlights from USA to EU. All headlight functions work, but they still operate in the USA mode. Which really shines in the eyes of the drivers opposite.
I need to switch the headlights to EU mode.

2) I need to make a second key for the car, is it possible to make a remote engine start from the key? Does this require a specific version of the key?

3) Remove speed limit from 130 mph.

4) Activate some functions of the car that did not require the addition of any spare parts.

5) Run the hybrid cooling pump service mode (I need to replace pump)

Will any action be visible when connecting to VIDA? Will the car get banned with such changes? Will it be updated to factory settings when connected?
What am I risking for such changes by Orbit?

Thanks for your help.

Regards

1) There is no difference in the operation mode when switching between US / EU while the headlight itself is still a US model.  You will get DTCs if you switch the config.  The only kind of an operation difference is "remembering last state of the auto high beam switch" if you select RAW headlight type.

2) Although some folks here has reported that "remote start from fob" works,  it does not for most of us. The only way is the remote app or the Volvo developer account and use their API. But I don't know if VOLVO free DEV account requires active VOLVO on CALL subscription.

3) Yes, you can do it

4) Yes, there are many settings you can enable without additional HW,

5) Not sure if it is even possible with an advanced ODB scanners.

Hi,

1. I changed USA headlight to EU model, but they don't work like EU model. What I managed to find out is that it needs to be reprogrammed. So it won't be possible to simply switch the mode in OrBit?

2. I replaced the front camera, is it possible to calibrate it by OrBit?

1. You don't say what exactly "doesn't work"? I got the idea from the first post you are saying the beam pattern is not correct. The beam pattern is a physical part of the headlight unit reflectors. We probably need more information, as to what parts were replaced and where they were sourced from. The headlights have modules on them (HCM - headlight control module). We would need to know, if the headlights were purchased (used?) with HCMs already mounted, or were the HCMs sourced separately as new parts or used parts from an unknown car?

The bottom line, OrBit can do everything related to making the headlights work correctly in the car. So no worries there, you just need to figure out what needs to be done. "Programming" is just a generic thing, that someone who has no idea of the workings in the car, will say. If you buy Orbit just reach out to me at support when you get set up, and I can give you some guidance to collect some info and then what you need to do.

2. Yes, you can calibrate 360 parking cameras with OrBit.

I have similar question, so I will hijack this thread Smile
On my U.S. origin S60 2019 I removed U.S headlights with amber side markers and installed EURO headlights without programming anything. What happened -  they work, but even with only low beams on - there are some kind of extra LEDs in the bottom part, with like a squarish pattern, which are messing up the whole beam pattern. I had a theory that it is related to EURO headlights not having side markers, so another leds are turned on instead. So I was thinking, if I would change headlight type to EURO, would this problem with weird extra leds being turned on with low beams would be sorted?

It might solve your problem. The configuration should match the HW. Further more, you should need to flash the HCMs with the correct config where you enter the Headlight's code (couple of HEX values on the sticker) and the production year (also on the headlight's sticker).

Normally my car had headlight with number 32314183, with next parameters:      I looked at the car's history, it turned out that it had damage in the front, for this the headlight was probably 2022, on the car from 2019. Unfortunately, the stickers on the left side have not survived.

I changed to 32314149, with next parameters

My headlights have two control units with Full LED Active High Beam, I left the control unit from my original lamps.

Where I can found correct flash?

Drop an email to support, they might help you with that. But you will need the HEX numbers as seen on the pictures for the left side too during the flash.
