Refund policy?
#1
Question
First off, this software looks fantastic and I'm excited to try and get it up and running. As a user of VCDS on past VWs, and a developer myself, this is much nicer and I appreciate the work the devs have put in place to get where it is today.

However, because I'm running a slightly out of the box setup (M2 Macbook Air with Win10 virtualized/emulated via UTM with a VOE/DoIP cable passed through as a bridged network adapter), I'm wondering if there's a refund policy in place in case I can't actually get OrBit connecting to the car after spending $225 for my Sensus-based car?

Everything looks like it should work right now but I can't be certain until paying for a subscription and CEM PIN because it's not until that point that you can try to make a connection to the car.

And I guess as a feature request, it'd actually be really awesome to be able to test connectivity and that your setup will work before purchase for this reason.

But be mindful it’s not an ideal setup.

That's good to know and I understand that it's not the most ideal setup as it can be fairly slow (it does help to increase the JIT compiler cache amount though).

Was it working via the usb device passed through to the VM and then the usb device was setup as an ethernet adapter inside Windows with specific drivers?

Or as a bridged network device passed straight into the VM so the VM sets it up as a network adapter using its "fake" virtual device driver?

But again, if none of this ends up working, is a refund (or even just a partial refund since the CEM PIN is a service fully rendered) possible since obviously the software would never actually get used?

You'll need to ask the OP.

I'm a Mac user myself, but have a dedicated windows laptop that runs this (cheap, $100 thing). If you're going to purchase OrBit I would recommend that the minimum requirements are fulfilled as outlined on the website FAQ. Support is available via email for paid users: support(at)spaycetech.com

I'll get back to you individually, but for the general answer, refund policy is evaluated by the situation. The policy is, I do the right thing. I've not had any angry folks, we always agree on the right resolution if it comes to that.
