360 Camera Defaulting
#1
Hello again,
I want to also share another setting I was tested and it worked for the 360 Camera,
If everyone remembers for the Volvo's in the US with the 360 cam, that it would use the last setting we choose, similar to Europe, but then they released a TU to change it to be enforced to show the backup camera first due to regulatory reason.

I did some testing on the options that is available, I had most failures with other settings where the camera would show black screen like it's not there (maybe I needed to reset the ABS or something not sure, but I didn't know about it at that time lol), but I found one that does the trick

My original settings are:
154 FRONT PARKING CAMERA - 06 Parking camera 360, always activated during reverse

Here is what I changed
154 FRONT PARKING CAMERA - 03 Parking camera 360

With this setting for US market when you put your car on reverse it will show the last settings you had which is rear view camera or the 360

This is my next change as soon as I get out of the dealer.

In Canada we all need to change it as per recall. We live in a condo with parking garage and use 360 every evening coming back home.

Thanks for that one mamous! You've tested a lot of settings with OrBit over time ha.

This is a useful one for people with 360 cam in the US, where I guess regulations require the rear view is always default. And this was one of the settings only OrBit can do, as the only way to do with changing build codes is to change the "market" setting of the entire car.

Oh thanks alot! My dealer did the recall on my car without asking, and I noticed right away that the rear cam was default when on, i was not happy about that. It's great to know I will be able to revert it back like it was before the recall!

Here's an interesting data point: my car behaves in the "new" standard US way, as per mamous' post (i.e. defaults to the rear camera in reverse). The default setting for 154 is "06 Parking camera 360, always activated during reverse". When I tried changing it to "0A Parking Camera 360 Japan" I got an SRS error (U2300 - Central Configuration - System programming failures - not programmed) alongside a bunch of PAM and PSCM DTCs without description in the database. They all disappeared once I reverted the setting. Now I'm wondering what would happen if I switched it to "03 Parking camera 360"... I'll have a go and report back.

If you clear DTC a they come back?

I know this forum isn't related to vida at all, but if someone is able to provide me with an answer, that would be great.

Can things such as this 360 camera default be enabled with vida or is my best bet to get my pin codes I need through vida and just use OrBit?

I like the idea of using vida as it's the official software and I can just edit what I want and leave it without worrying about the dealer seeing it and voiding warranty, etc.

Thanks!

For most everything that is "changing" the car, VIDA is not an option. There are a very few things you can have in the "official" way that you could also do via OrBit, such as change the tire size, or install heated steering wheel as an accessory for examples. Doing through VIDA would make the changes to the car such that is updated andt proper with Volvo.

For everything else...there is OrBit ;-)

In general coding and personalization is not something Volvo is interested in doing as a service function, and many of the things we do are OK for us, but not for Volvo to do, as the settings may exist due to regulations. Adaptive beams in the US, not defaulting to rear view cam with the 360 cam in the US, Stop/Start setting "memory" outside the US...just 3 examples of factory configurations used to meet local regulations in specific markets. That's just one aspect but there are many more reasons why there is not something "official".

I want to post an update on this, after doing some retesting again. I posted the incorrect setting, I just edited the original post with the correct one for the US cars
