Adding 110/230V POWER OUTLET TUNNEL (VDN code: PG03)?
#1
Hey!

Maybe someone already investigated and can advise.

I have added power outlet to rear side of center console, as found out that wiring and plug was inside console from factory.

Checked wring to passenger side fusebox, fuse is also installed. Looks that wiring to CEM also should be, but not checked yet.

But, as per conversation with dealer , there should be some option activated in CEM to activate power for this particular outlet.
And as usual dealer says, that as this is not from accessories catalogue, they cannot do anything...

So at the moment this outlet not powered up.

Checked in OrBit, and cannot find anything related to this. Did I miss it? Or there is no such option?

Hi! I checked, there is not any config item driven by PG variant. It changes nothing in the car, just informational about the build. This might make sense...my car is PG06 12V outlet. There is nothing in the car configured for it, no on/off button in the Sensus or anything. I am thinking the power outlet is just a simple equipment, powered up with acessory power, no software or module. What do you think? Have you checked the power input to it, it is being supplied? We may need to find the VIN of a car equipped with it, see if we can find the wiring diagrams.

If you are reffering to the 12V on the back of the center console, mine comes with it from factory

I mean this outlet, I have 12V outlet as well, it was coming from factory

This is part number I used, its for EU cars

as per information I managed to find:

- it should be powered via fuse #2 (CF02) in passenger side fusebox (red wire)
- negative cable connected to the bolt under passenger seat (black wire)
- it should have connection to CEM to pin EN35 (gray wire, LIN)
- it should be somehow linked to relay BR5 in engine fuse box (CON6 1) (gray wire)

From first glance all wiring and exist, fuse #2 is also installed, what I am not sure is: connection to engine fuse box relay, and CEM (but I see that gray wire comes out of console)

This is diagram I have, its from V60 MY21, (i dont have USB ports pn my XC60 MY20), but in general it shows wiring

This in addition to above

Continuing troubleshooting

Checked wiring from power outlet:
-          Red/Velvet (2.5 RD/VT) wire, comes to passenger side fuse box, at least it visible in pack of cables there. So I assume it should be connected to fuse #2, although I have not check yet if that’s so, fuse #2 (30A) installed from factory.
On left plug coming out of central console its pin 8
-          Grey wire (0.35 GY) from central console, coming to CEM, EN plug, connected to pin 35 (checked visually looking into EN plug)
o On left plug coming out of central console its pin 10

-          Black wire, coming under passenger seat right from central console, to bolt to ‘ground’ connection.

Not checked yet:
-          Connection to engine fuse box from CEM.
o   It looks that gray wire (0.35 GY from scheme), should also reach engine fuse box, and it should activate relay (BR5 from scheme) that should activate power via read/velvet wire.

So question, does anybody has pin by pin plug description that coming to engine fuse box? Maybe from VIDA?

Did you get it to work?

I found a 220v outlet at a local scrapyard, and it is very interesting for holidays to have 220v in the car.

Not yet, but looks I am very close to make it work ) will try to make it over coming weekends

Compared wiring of my car and car with 220v outlet and it looks that I need a connection to CEM (pin EN 35) for this plug to get ENABLE signal, as this pin is used to power up relay for other 12v plugs.

Fortunately other wiring already in the car, although by my VIN, VIDA not showing it.

So the plan is to make connection of gray wire 0.35 coming out of tunnel and CEM pin EN 35, and see if its working, fingers crossed )

Yes! I made it work! Big Grin

My assumption was correct that this outlet needs to receive ENABLE signal from CEM. The same connection used to power up relay for other 12v plugs, so I added  connection to existing circuit.

So my car had all wiring for 220V outlet, but this connection was missed.
I did wiring from CEM EN plug pin 35 gray, to left plug coming out tunnel to gray wire in pin 10.

No changes in config of car, just added relevant parts (outlet itself, back panel for this outlet and holder) and 1,5m wire.

You can see some photos of plugs and wiring, as well as some wiring diagrams in my blog here:

its in Russian, but you can use Google Translate service if needed.

Potentially this 220V can be installed to the cars that were previously equiped with it as accessories option, as I know Volvo installed it as option on cars till MY20-21 (XC90, S90, V90, XC60 and S/V60)
