not reverting back to OEM doesn't mean you would get blocked. It's very likely nothing would happen.
The blocking happens when you tamper with the car by faking a different configuration that doesn't match what Volvo has in their systems (i.e. how vdash used to do it). The way OrBit works is different and does not "fake" a config.
I think the only thing that is more tricky is if you change/upgrade some modules, and that requires more than just revert to OEM but if I'm not mistaken replug the original module.
Power6 could explain it better, but anyway it's always good to revert to OEM before any dealer visit.

I sincerely doubt I will ever roll back my tiny minor changes. I remember the last update from Sept 24. Basically.... "minor fixes that don't affect drivetrain...blabla..." Same thing the one before said. Hell, IF I ever go back to the dealer I will probably straight up tell em what I did.
If I ever do anything big, maybe rollback. But at this point, I've made my changes. Don't plan to renew Orbit.
And from what I've reads is not a PERMANENT BAN FOREVER, worst case scenario.
I hacked my Mazda in a similar fashion... I told them straight up when I took it in "Don't screw up my hack..." hahaha

That's cool.
While I am beyond impressed they added a new feature..being able to use the windows without the key is something I can live without.
I swear I got an OTA update for one of these. Must have just been a map update I guess, because according to that, you have to go to the dealer for these.
Anyway, thanks for sharing that IMay.

In general; everytime you take your car to service for regular maintenance, service centers must run the total upgrade. It's in the every scheduled maintenance plan. But unfortunately, many official service centers are skipping that because they cannot charge additionally customers for it since the cost (labour hours) is already included in the service hours itself. Total upgrades are free from VIDA. As a result, every customer should have got it, no need to visit service only for updates.

Not really correct I think
My shop knew I had a chip tuning on my 2017 V90 D5, so they only did software upgrade on 1 service, the next not, the next again an upgrade and so on. So I wouldn't have to go after each service back to the tuner.
They told me that every time they skip the update they got a complaint from Volvo about it

First of all, your situation is different on a modified car. VOLVO rejects to update any modified car for both software and HW (adding a chip) and this has nothing to with obligation of an official volvo service centers to perform any available software updates at every periodic service on the unmodified cars
