ACC and Pilot Assist activation on Volvo XC60 B4 – Programming Time and Power Supply
#4
If you have any unexplained issues with your car's electronics/software (which are often a symptom of a weak 12V battery), or the car doesn't crank as quickly as it used to, I do highly recommend to replace the 12V battery first.
If the car simply has been sitting for a while, at least charge it first.

It's generally good practice to check what condition the car is in before changing anything, so you can be sure any new behaviour is a result of your changes.
If you're planning to enable ACC/PA, get a fresh impression of what the stock cruise control does first.

Might as well do that and top up the battery by driving 5+ km.

With a known good and charged 12V battery, I've never had any issues without an external power source.
It's quick if you know what you want to change.

If you're still exploring Orbit, you can always unplug the cable from the car after conneting initially, lock the car and walk away.
That way you don't drain the battery while looking around in Orbit and also it's much more comfortable to explore Orbit sitting on a real chair and table, not tied to your car Smile

It's important to unplug on the OBD side too, though! The ENet cable will keep the car from going to sleep and drain the battery, even without a laptop connected.

Once you've decided what to do, reconnect Orbit, do the changes and be done in < 5 min.

Don't get spooked by the screens turning black, brake error messages on the Dash and clicky sounds during the process.
I for sure did the first 1-2 times Big Grin
