Hi, i had the same fearful thoughts before inwrote the first time anconfig change, its quick and yes it will suck some battery but its normally drops only 2-5% while doing a config change, even you suck it dry while writing noting bricks, charge and write again but that will not happen if you start a config change while battery is around 55-65% just write an be happy.
