Hey guys,
Looking for some advice on a fuel gauge issue after swapping the 8" cluster for a 12.3" unit on my 2019 S60 T5 FWD (~54k miles)
The donor cluster came from a 2021 S60 T5 FWD (~33k miles).
The physical swap was easy, and I coded Parameter 157 to the 12.3" option in OrBit. After a short drive, the mileage synced up to my car's true ~54k miles and the initial tamper code (C200262) cleared out.
The issue is the fuel gauge is dead—the level display is totally blank and the orange fuel pump light is flashing continuously.
Scanning with OrBit shows two pending ECM faults:
ECM - P046000 (Fuel Level Sensor "A" Circuit)
ECM - P206500 (Fuel Level Sensor "B" Circuit)
My factory config has Parameter 011 set to 04 (55L) and Parameter 012 set to 01 (1 sensor).
I tried toggling Parameter 012 to 02 (2 sensors) just to see what would happen. On restart, the gauge actually displayed a fuel reading for about 2–3 seconds, but then dropped right back to blank and started flashing again. Reverted it back to 01.
Filled the tank to full (added 6.4 gallons) to see if float movement would trigger anything. No luck.
Doing some research on this, seems like my 2019 S60 is broadcasting single-sensor data while the 2021 DIM firmware is possibly looking for packet/data with 2 sensors.
A couple of quick questions:
Is there any workaround in OrBit for this, or is it strictly locked to the DIM's internal flash firmware?
If I take it to VIDA, will a standard DIM Reload successfully flash the 2019 fuel calibration onto a 2021 DIM, or will VIDA reject it because the hardware PN doesn't match my build year?
Would it be less headache to just return this to eBay and wait for an actual 2019/2020 donor?
EDIT:
Looking at the OrBit release notes, I read that this type of software/firmware reload functionality is now supported in OrBit (No need for VIDA)?
Admins, can i get some more info on how to get this done via OrBit?
Thanks for any help!
