HV Coolant Bleed Procedure issue.
#1
Hello,

2022 XC40 Recharge Ultimate (with heat pump) (USA version)

I am rebuilding an auction XC40. Today I replaced the entire cooling clip (radiator, condenser, air duct, shutters etc.

After draining the radiator, I vacuum filled the system per VIDA service docs. I then fired up orbit to do the bleed procedure. According to the on screen instructions: I start the process, let it run, top off coolant if needed, then when I’m done I hit the stop and degas button.  So I hit start, its starts, then says start failed, but still actually did the bleed procedure. The pumps were running, HV, EB and climate valves were opening and closing, and it would pull coolant from the reservoir, then about 10 seconds later pump it though the radiator overflow tube back into the reservoir. First couple of times got some good air bubbles and needed to add about 12-16 oz of coolant. So far so good. I look at orbit, and in the status section its still cycling between start, and start failed even though it was running. However the “Stop and Degas” button was not working. The only way to stop the process was to hit the close button. I let it run for 10-15 minutes with a battery charger connected to the car, but the button status never changed.

Did I do something wrong? Is it a bug?  If it does not degas, does that mean I still have air in the system?

TIA for any help!
