Bit of an update here.
So I finally got around to working more on my XC40 over my holidays.
So initially I installed this light for the rear seats:

It worked okay-ish, because it would turn on or off manually with the buttons and the ambient light worked also at night. But it wouldn't turn on automatically when the doors opened.
Therefore I obviously had to get the good one for my newer XC40, which now works perfectly:

Only difference is the light color as you can all see below:

Since it comes from a Polestar 2, the light is colder, which I expected. It won't really bother me so much, but whenever I'll find a good priced one for XC40, I'll get it to have matching colors.
Sorry for terrible glare, no idea why my camera just didn't want to make any sharp picture
Next step: installing ambient lights on doors, for this I bought 2 used window motors cheaply (5€ piece) to get connectors and therefore pins together with wires.
I was planning onj getting the wiring looms instead, but new ones are crazy expensive, and the ambient light wiring loom is attached to the door card itself and usually sold together with the door card in the case of used parts
