As a follow up I managed to track down a part number for a 315MHz remote and ordered a brand new one from FCP Euro (31652606 - US$199). Took a few weeks before it shipped, I guess they had to order it in. Once it arrived it was simple to add via Orbit. Now I just need to track down an automotive locksmith to sort out the backup key.
But all in all much cheaper than the NZ$1400+ I was quoted locally.
