Hello everyone, Volvo XC60 P.E. 2023 AAOS here. I’ve been trying to figure out how to code the steering wheel with paddle shifters. I’ve read that the common issue is that the gear selector module doesn’t recognize the signal from the paddles even when the wiring is correct. So, someone mentioned a solution involving replacing the EGSM (gear selector module).
However, I was also thinking that even though the car has shift-by-wire and the new crystal selector, it still allows gear changes by moving it left or right. So it should just be a matter of making the steering wheel emulate the movement of the gear selector (I’m working on this and trying to understand if it’s feasible while keeping the wiring as close to original as possible).
The only thing I’m thinking is that, especially after 2020 when Volvo cut costs, it seems unlikely that they changed the various control units, including the transmission one. This idea is also reinforced by the fact that the clock spring connector behind the steering wheel is already pre-wired with the pins. The only remaining question is where to route the wiring.
