Quote:Once you find a used one, first check the part number of the replacement unit in the VOLVO parts catalog if it is listed for your VIN. This is very important to be able install market change software from VIDA and update Volvo servers with the new IHU HW number.
@imay2023 how do you check that?
Quote:You will need VIDA to reload the market change software "certificate installation". It does not cost much. Otherwise, IHU will not download anything nor update the existing maps or the maps installed via USB after the replacement. Is this the only concern?
I only use CarPlay honestly, not really worried about updating maps/apps. My car has an old 3G model that does not work anymore and as I understand the upgrade would be quite complex (if event possible)
Also, do you think swapping the HDD with an SSD is an option?
Since they are of standard 2.5' size, it should be fairly simple to just clone the old one to an SSD. It seems like a 2019 unit might be like a $100 cheaper and a new SSD is like $20
