Once you find a used one, first check the part number of the replacement unit in the VOLVO parts catalog if it is listed for your VIN. This is very important to be able install market change software from VIDA and update Volvo servers with the new IHU HW number.
Most of the sensus IHUs are interchangeable.
Before removing the old unit, make sure you uninstall all the downloaded applications first. Because according to VOLVO app center DB your VIN has already installed the apps thus the applications will not show up in the download center. and you won't be able to install the missing apps on the new IHU.
For example: You installed Spotify app on your original IHU but the owner of the new IHU restored it to factory or uninstalled all the apps before selling. If you replace the new unit without uninstalling the Spotify app first, you won't be able to install it.
Second,
You will need VIDA to reload the market change software "certificate installation". It does not cost much. Otherwise, IHU will not download anything nor update the existing maps or the maps installed via USB after the replacement.
Once you connect your car to VIDA with the new IHU installed, VIDA will show you two softwares under HW change TAB.
1) IHU reload
2) Market Certificate.
You will only need to purchase market certificate. The installation will update the CEM, VCM and IHU certificates to be the same.
After the market certificate installation completes, perform rescan on VIDA. You will see that IHU reload is removed from the HW changes tab. AFter that you will be able to install or update the apps and maps.
