However, there are some trade-offs:

• The windows, panoramic roof, and trunk will no longer open or close using the key button.
  
• The trunk can only be opened using the foot sensor. From the interior button, the trunk door can be both opened and closed.
  

So the trunk doesn't open from the key fob. 
The trunk does open from the foot sensor, the button under the dash, and the foot sensor. 

Does the exterior button on the trunk work? 

I use the fob to open the trunk pretty often, would be nice to retain that functionality as it saves me a few seconds getting stroller or junk in/out.
