I figured it out, it works now.
I misunderstood this image, pins 11, 12, 13 are not these visible wires, but the ones in row behind (connector has nicely labeled pin numbers). I didn't have those wires.
It's different on the shifter side (compared to GRG's post) because I have electronic shifter but this post helped me. I removed the shifter following this video and found gray connector which was missing pins 7, 8, 9.
To test I just inserted bare wires into the connectors, and it worked. I believe connectors on both sides are JAE MX34, so I ordered some pins to make proper installation.
