I also called my dealer who checked with the parts cars VIN and it showed that they are ventilated (duh) but not massaging.Quote:-On the seat connector, are the PINs numbered on the plastic connector or do I need to find a pin chart of the connector to know which PIN is number 15?
Yes, the connectors are numbered but you will need to take picture and magnify it because they are very small.
Quote:-What kind of crimping pliers do I need to crimp the PIN connector to a wire?
I used small needle nose pliers. Those pins are not widely used, I couldn't find traditional multi crimping tool for it. Buying one just for that type of pin does not justify the cost of it.
Quote:-How did you route the wire from the drivers seat to the fuse box? I’ve not removed seats from my car yet so I have no clue on how the looms are routed from factory.
After you remove from seats, you can easily pull the carpet if you want. It really does not matter from where and how you route the wire. There is only one thing you must pay attention. Make sure that there is enough free length of wire left under the seat so that when you move seat full back and full up, the wire is not stretched. Route the wire from the connector (if you are pinning or from the tab point through the main main harness and tie the wire with a zip tie at the end of main harness where it goes under the carpet. Basically make sure that the wire you are adding at least same length of the main harness from the edge of the connector to the carpet.
Quote:-Looking at my cars owners manual, it says that Fuse 40 for seat massage uses a 5A fuse instead of 7.5A that I’ve seen on here. Which one is correct?
I used 5amp fuse as indicated in the VOLVO book. Both front left and right seats are using the same fuse. So, you can route one wire from driver seat to passenger and than tab it to the second wire that goes from the fuse box to the passenger seats. I used these fuse tabs with 5 amp.
Quote:-The PIN connectors you’ve mentioned previously on here (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CH15J4BJ?ref...asin_title) are listed for 0.50mm2-0.75mm2. You’ve advised to use 18AWG wire which is 0,82mm2. Does the small difference matter at all?
No, I used 18awg wire with those pins. You can also use 20awg if you like. If you are not feeling comfortable with pinning you can also use cable taps like these .
and had time to install the drivers side. I swapped the seat controller from my existing seat and when I took a look at the pins, my existing controller had more pins than the new one. So my existing controller had all the pins that the new controller had and a couple more. That was on the connector that had the most pins.
After the install I went to code. For the seat ventilation I first tried the setting ”ventilation drivers seat” as I haven’t yet swapped the front passenger side. That didn’t work. The ventilation setting didn’t pop up.
Then I changed it to ventilation driver and passenger, now the setting is visible and works. Memory also works.
But 1 setting doesn’t work, and that’s the 4 way lumbar. As the back of the seat didn’t have many hoses going in and out, I assume that the seat doesn’t even have the massaging parts installed. That begs the question, do I STILL need to run a power wire to the seat to get the lumbar to work even though the seat most likely doesn’t have side support which shouldn’t even make any difference to the lumbar!
Settings I now have:
-Ventilation for driver and passenger
-4-way lumbar adjustment (had this already)
-Side support driver and passenger (first I tried ”side support backrest” or something like that which didn’t work)
When I switch to the lumbar setting with the seat selector and try to adjust it, the relay only clicks and nothing happens ? on the passenger side with the original seat it works fine.
What should I do? I really hope it’s just a configuration issue or something.
