My 2020 XC60 T8 came without ACC enabled, and I want to activate it. According to this, I need the part (application) 32270914, which costs $2.7K, to make it OEM. Could it really be that expensive? Also, the dealer says that the ABS module should also be changed, which costs another $1,500. Maybe someone knows if all T8 models actually came with it?
Another option is to use Orbit, which has an initial cost of $225 and a yearly license fee of $100, and reset all the settings before going to the service. Is that a correct assumption?
I upgraded my 2019 s60 t5 officially by myself.
Yes, I had to replace the hydraulic unit in my case. I got very lucky found a brand new one in UK and cost me $650 USD including shipping to CA, USA. The cheapest one in USA was $1230 + shipping.
I paid another $350 USD for the labour. (replacement and bleeding the breaks) at a local shop. I could do it myself but it required some special tools to disconnect the brake lines.
Software itself on VIDA was $550 USD. (I assume it's still the same) but again I got very lucky with this too. On the day I did the replacement, VOLVO had issues with their payment system. They could not charge the credit cards due to some internal issue within their servers. I contacted support, they told me that they were aware of the issue and they gave me the software for free!!!
At the volvo service, they wanted $1500 for the labour (replacement and software installation) + $600 for the software and they wanted my original unit.
In your case, your car is twin engine thus you should not need to replace your unit. Just software installation. On the other hand, there are many folks here who enabled the pilot assist via Orbit without replacing the unit.
Basically, the correct unit is "238 TOP DAMPING, BRAKES >> 02 Friction brake actuator with top damping" You can connect the car to orbit read the OEM config. If you have 02, then you would know that you've been lied to. If you see, 01 ...without top dumping, you would need to replace according to official accessory information.
